Is the fog back on the east coast again?
It feels really humid here, outside temp has fallen around 10 degrees but dew point only by about 3.
Wouldn't be surprised to see some shallow fog in the morning around here.

A lovely day with strange looking cirrus, kind of rounded clumps or something. Haze seems to have eased slightly, but stll enough to soften the skyscape.

Stupid question but does the wind effect the temperature readings? It was quite chilly in my garden on Monday because of the cold breeze but once I moved somewhere that blocked the wind it felt much hotter than the 16 celsius readings on the radio.

Certainly does near coast. The sea is cold and the air above it similar 10-12C and near east and south coast this air was being blown in. If you shelter from that air then it is warm if not hot.

Meanwhile almost whole country away from east and south is 21/22C and even here its 19C

I've reached the dizzy heights of 17.3c in the sea breeze.

As is the norm,that will rise a bit probably after 5 or 6pm for a very short while as the sea breeze dies.
Thats a regular occurance in coastal areas.

Some pretty impressive CB's beginning to develop to the east and north of me at the moment, really explosive development in the last 15 mins or so. Looks like there could be some heavy showers to the north and north east of me in the next hour of so..

I really like to see your dewpoints or have you the ability to display such?

Our old friend dewpoint is important for snow but is a vital ingredient for thunderstorm development.Above a Dp of 13C is needed while with proper convection over a warm land.Your displaying an air temp of 23.9c with RH 54%, ill guestimate a Dp over your area of 12c.

Have the ability Snowbie,:) currently 13.5c (d.p). Don't think there will be thunder, at least here, although some big cb's still around, now to the west, decaying further east. To much of a strong southerly stream, I.E, from the bay:(. Home grown thunder is more likely here when there is a deep rooted south easterly (something which the current set up is not), easterly or north easterly.

Maxed 21.2c here today. Last night's low was 7.6c. Warmest day of the year so far.

Carlow got to 20.0 yesterday (20.4 here) and low of 8.4c (7.3 here).

the last week has been super here, feels warmer than any day we had last year. Allready a better summer than 2007 and its only the first week of May, hopefully much more of this to come over the next 4 months.

I switched off the storage heating a few days ago - last summer it was still on in June!!

This really is a brilliant spell of weather even if we have a hiccup in the next couple of days in the south.

Max of 19.7c briefly and reached 18.9c again briefly when sea breeze relaxed at 1800.

Nice day again and with only a slight seabreeze making it feel more pleasant than it should be here by the coast.

Calm down chaps, last 2 weeks of April in 2007 was fantastic and into May then in late May the weather got borked until late August.

Great example of a cumulus congested there. Notice the relatively high base in accordance with the Dp temp. Sometimes it hard to distinguish a CB to a towering cumulus due to its high base to its lower top level(not flatened or anviled). As in April(and a perfect month it was here for displaying low based Cbs due to a lower freezing level/Dp and enormous growth right upto stratosphere) these high based lads produce rain but a boundary between sealevel and base of Cb, a dry and warm air portion of the atmosphere allows the rain to evaporate(known as virga) so rain never reaches the ground and does not return on doppler radar. It can still produce lightning as the ingredients are there. Can be refered to as a dry storm or an electrical storm.

Thanks Snowbie. Good to have a specific name for future reference. I always associate that type of cloud with May for some reason. Today was my stereotypical May day. I see from the radar loop that the same line of convection gave some showers over Mayo later. I don't know what it is, but a lot of convection that develops right over me seems to have a big impact elsewhere..Like Mayo!! Don't mind though, sure me gran is from Kilvine..:)

Was just about to post the exact same thoughts Supercell - the sky does look very thundery with ragged and disorganised cumulus - however Cape and LI does not back this up but Met E are forecasting thunderstorms firstly in South and more widespread later.

Have been told that there was a fairly heavy shower less than an hour ago in the Cabra area of Dublin. Very large drops. Here in Inchicore, I could see the dark cloud out that way. Looked high based. And it developed very quickly.

Wind has certainly shifted over night, defo a more easterly flavour. Haze is thick, really hard to tell if it is cloudy or not, which is just how I like it. Some beautiful colours in the sky and landscape as a result, with the smell of grass and trees around the place.. heaven!!!
