What am i qualified to teach?

hey, hope someone can help me!! I have a degree in biochemistry, so am i qualified to teach both biology and chemistry or just biology. ask the career service at college, they didn't know. Rang the teaching council,she wasn't sure and said she'd get back to me.anyway she did and said she thinks both biology and chemistry. But...... then at one of my teaching practice interviews the teacher there said i'd only be qualified to teach biology.

Therefore im i bit confused...:(

Lists all the eligible degrees (so far) and what they qualify you to teach.

It's a bit of a disgrace that the careers service couldn't tell you, but even more of a disgrace that the Teaching Council couldn't.

There are only 2 Biochemistry degrees listed on the teaching council website that are recognised for teaching purposes from UL and DIT and according to their list, they can only be used to teach biology. I can't understand why you were told chemistry as well by the teaching council when it's not listed on their website. I think whoever you were talking to was just chancing their arm and was too lazy to look it up.

Just looking at the Biochemistry modules in UL, there doesn't seem to be any chemistry in the final year and there are no inorganic chemistry modules at all. I don't think you would be allowed to teach chemistry from biochemistry
