I'm after posting the same on the AH covers thread, House of the Rising Sun by the Animals a cover of Bob Dylan's which is far superior to the original. I'm surprised that, according to a quick search, this hasn't been mentioned already.

I think this is over the top sentimental pap at it's finest. So i would disagree that it wins hands down. Unless it's a turn a good song into a radio friendly commercial crappy cover contest.

/end rant: Man i hate covers like this.

All my favourite covers I'm afraid are from Johnny Cash. Rusty Cage, Hurt, Personal Jesus, Desperado, and I Won't Back Down are all brilliant.

Even songs I didn't care for before he covered them such as Bridge Over Troubled Water are just fantastic. Legend of a man.

haha i'd never heard "Bitches aint ****" until today, brilliant!
any other examples of rap/hip hop songs being covered by preppy, white boys?

as for a cover, i'd recommend "sexual healing" by ben harper or "solsbury hill" by dave matthews band

yup, "lollipop" by Lil Wayne is covered by Framing Hanley, it's pretty good/hilarious.
in the words of my friend: "Wow, it's like an emo threw up all over my favorite rap song."
