    If I was god, I wouldn't want my people to worship me. I would demand that they spend their time growing stronger and more advanced so that they can kick the ass of all the other dumbasses who worship other gods.

    Hrm. My point is, the only reason we have a weekend is because of the Sabbath. If we move the Sabbath that'll just be the new weekend. You may as well decide that Thursday is the start of the week and tada! mid week break.

    Actually, I was taught in Primary school that Sunday is the first day of the week.

    Well, the rest of the worlld cann have their traditional weekend, while the followers of my mad cap religion take Wednesday off too.

    And you were taught correctly. Saturday is the Sabbath and Sunday is the first day of the week.

    Not too many Sabbatarians around these parts!

    I did some basic research and it seems to be a geographic thing (hey, it's Friday)...

    This site offers calenders and times for each country.
    The US version has Sunday as the first day...
    The Irish version has Monday.

    Wiki more or less confirms the geographic distinction.

    Monday ftw!
