Rental Gazumping?

    I have some experience of renting and also letting to people.
    This is strange and I was wondering if there was any experience of it.
    A girl I know put a holding deposit on an apartment last week, to move in in 2 weeks time. The agent rang her yesterday to tell her the landlord has changed his mind and does not want students. Obviously she will get her deposit back. Shes in a bad position now though and if she cant get somewhere fast she'll have to move home. Theres nothing really she can do is there? Just thought the circumstances were weird.

    That's not Gazumping... Gazumping would be if they increased the rent after she paid her deposit... which happened to me years ago. V annoying.
