Just a quick one here I was at the league final a few weeks back between tip V Gal in limerick and I have been meaning to write this for some time now.
First up When you pay to get into the limerick grounds firstly you have to pay either €20-30 depending on the stand but you do not get a receipt why is that ????
How does the GAA account for this money were are the paper receipts to the customer?
Is there an independent audit carried out after the match in relation to this money
Also another point: The lights in the stairs cases we off after the match as everybody was leaving it was pitch black and if there wasn't somebody injured that day they could have taken our beloved Gaa to the cleaners.Seriously I heared an old lady and a few others struggling to keep their feet because the weight of the people coming down the stairs. People were shouting to take it easy however nobody could do anything cus of the darkness. Poor in terms of health and safety and don't get me started on the Toliets jesus christ. It has really turn me off the GAA in terms of there attitude to all supporters of the game.

Why do you want a receipt? Its not like you can claim it back off anything. Although it would be a great idea as it might ensure no money at the stiles goes astray.

I thought that match was all ticket ?? maybe just keep the stub.

    Gentlemen,

The Gaelic Grounds is infamous for the lack of receipts/stubs!

    Just think about it...

Did you request a receipt? Onus is on the customer to keep one, it's only the sellers fault if they refuse to give one when requested.

You could pay at the gate and like any other events you sometimes get a stub or ticket but not in limerick and if it's infamous who do you go to hightlight such a issue. I did ask for a receipt into the grounds I always do and they always advise they don't have one and i'm holding up the Q. I'm not claiming back or anything but if i'm handing over €20-30 I like to keep a track of it. From the Gaa side they are open for corruption here in my books. It's a nice to have a ticket to say you were there with the programme etc. It something I have seen in the past and i'm surprised it's still happening in 2008. Couple of years ago a well known Galway chairman was selling all Ireland tickets from his Kitchen in turloughmore people had to Q to get into his house and he had the power to say yes or no to the individuals who he wished to sell the tickets to and he certainly used that power to great effect. The Funny thing is RTE News interviewed him in the house that evening and you could see the bundle of cash behind him on the dinner table were his daughter was counting it!! Funny that. Again no receipts, no stubs, No nothing.

Well, as the GAA don't pay VAT on their gate receipts, they only need to keep track of the figures for their own internal audit. That they do. How accurate it is, we can only speculate on. All gates have counters, most gates are fixed-price (i.e. 20 quid for Stand X, adult fare only), so the cash should closely match the counter for that gate. Gates with multiple ticket tiers generally have stubs.

If you had sought a receipt, I'd imagine one would be produced for you, but you'd have been made wait for a good while (like trying to find the 1 stweard who can scan you 'out' in Croke Park!). The GAA have no interest in facilitating receipts when they're trying to squeez 20,000 inside 15mins. The vast majority of their patrons also have no interest in anything other than getting in quickly.
