Did anyone head along to Nizlopi's gig at Cyprus Avenue last night? If so, what was your verdict on it?

    My thought's exactly.
They should have made a career working on JCB's,not singing about them.

I don't mind JCB's :D but that fcuking song is another story.

"Oh lets make a tune, using a metaphor about a boy and his dad causing traffic gridlock in a JCB as an arty metaphor about how much we love to take it up the ass with a curling iron, and we can use cute words so all the girls will say awwwwww when they hear it"

Take your swedish acid folk or whatever the fcuk it is and isolate it from the rest of the universe. Your contribution could help save a poor soul from the torture of hearing it. :D

Those were some very nasty things to say about them. Yeah, I don't like the JCB Song either, but they have other songs I do like. It's unfair and limiting to define a band's worth on the basis of one song.

They're actually really nice guys, very able musicians, and eager to give audiences their money's worth. They don't deserve such animosity. They really don't.

It's not really a metaphor in any way. It's a fairly literal song about the guy's experiences growing up. That's the beauty of it. Sure it's got overplayed, but it's a great little tune and clearly written from the heart.

But by all means, carry on being a cynical git about everything.

I like the song. It's a catchy tune with good lyrics. It tells a simple father and son story.

No niqqers smacking their bitch up, no busting caps in anybody's ass. No sexually explicit video trying to distract your attention from a woeful piece of music. No endless remixing by talentless wasters desperately trying to salvage something from a rubbish tune.

I liked the way they made the tune freely available for download on their site. A refreshing change from the crass commercialism of many in the music industry.

Good luck to them I say.

    My 2c.
