Ah, well I think I know what this 'sense of humour' means now, because I too have a sense of humour, it's just that some things I don't find particularly funny. I find being in the presence of someone who tells a chinaman joke an extremely awkward experience, as so most people I know. It's gutter humour TBH. I knew a Chinese person here in Ireland about 5 years ago, and I was with him when he heard a chinaman joke. It was a fairly 'mild' one, but he didn't laugh, he kept smiling. But later on when talking to me he was trying to tell me how China is a good country with good people, and how the joke was not 'accurate'. I felt bad for him.

TBH, if every single boardsie told me that they laugh at racist humour, I just wouldn't come back here.

Have you never laughed at a joke that relies on the stereotypical Irishman image of a drunken moron? I know I have, and I'm from Ireland. I don't see why this is any different. So who told the joke? Was it someone who was friendly with him, or a stranger? In what context? There are more than one ways of telling a joke.

I have a female friend who laughs hysterically at rape jokes (going far, I know). This doesn't mean I tell rape jokes to everyone I know. I use common sense.

Ok, maybe you don't know him, but I would say you agree with him. That is to say you probably get quite a kick out of 'dodgy' jokes.

Humour is subjective, i.e. There is no proof that something if funny or unfunny, but people generally have their own limits as to what is funny to them and what isn't.

Instead of taking bets, why not address me directly, like you did a few posts ago? Do you also have me on ignore now? And no I haven't led a sheltered life. In fact, I would suggest that those who tell racist jokes and don't know about the term 'sambo' are the ones who have been sheltered. I've been to many places far and wide, and have met many people. I just wouldn't be able to bring myself to tell a racist joke. They're pointless and largely not funny. And try as you may to distance racist jokes from 'actual' racism, they still disgust and offend many people, and understandably so.

I know what it's like though to be shouted at on the street. Many times have scum bags shouted 'cut your hair' out of their car window (and drive off pretty fast). It didn't feel nice. I can only imagine that racist abuse feels about 100 times worse than that.
