How do I know if a cheque bounced?

    Hi,
I recently received a refund cheque.

I lodged it to my bank account last week and being my currrent account I have a lot of action going in and out.

I'm not actually sure if the cheque cleared so what I'm wondering is: will my bank(AIB) notify me in the event of a bounced cheque, and if so, what is the means of contact?

    Thanks.

The bank should send you the cheque back if it's bounced and they will usually have a cover letter out-lining the reason for the return of the cheque. At the same time you will see a debit from the account into which you lodged the cheque for the amount of the cheque
