Legend lads, great stuff keep em comin!

I remember years ago I had decided that I wanted to buy decks, and actually went out and started buying vinyl (I never ended up getting decks in the end - ha - but still have the LP's). Anyway I bought a couple of records, 2 mentioned above "Wink, higher State of Conciousness, Tori Amos - Professional Widow, and a few others). I left my car parked in town, with those records in it, and when I came to collected the car, some f**king nackers had torched it on the spot...

I wonder if they took the records first?

Unfortunately its useless in a modern set (certain older people at house parties will love you tho:D) Tony de Vit The Dawn legend tune, but useless these days, its aged badly, very badly...but brings back good memories.

Right then, time to stop playing about

If you're going to blow the roof of a place with an oldschool tune there's only one test as to how well it will go down - if a can of baked beans spontaneously implodes on top of a bass bin then you're gravy

Acen - Trip to the Moon Part II (From Russia with love :)... Everyone who hears this tune presumes the sample was nicked off of Robbie Williams' 'Angels'.)

    Prodigy - Pandemonium (Starting @ 2:56 - Mmmm....)

Green Man - Shut up and Dance (Badly in need of a remix - hasn't aged as well as the rest of them but still unbelievable tune.)

Altern8 - Frequency (Soulwax dropped this in the middle of their set at the picnic two years ago - I couldn't breathe for about a minute and a half.)

Future Sound of London - Papa New Guinea (Probably the most dated of all the tunes, but thrown after a bit of moby or something to end a set it would be perfect)

Outlander - Vamp(Wouldn't be a big fan, but DJ Hell uses it in his sets)

Nightmares on Wax - Aftermath (Should pass the can of beans test in the first 20 seconds :D )

And I'm 20 - born well past the warehouse scene/acid house - so I'd like to think I'm less clouded by nostalgia than some people here; mostly a fan of old school jungle and late house.

    Clouded with nostalgia??!!
Like the sixties, if you can remember it you weren't there :D
good choice of stuff though, the shut up and dance records were great, i love this one, samples from duran duran's the reflex and a japan track in it
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqYF5udI5Cg&feature=related
still have a scatched up old white label of this, got in abbey discs-speaking of abbey, when it was a small shop in the abbey mall, i was promoting a gig with paul okenfold and he wanted to get some tunes-so i took him to abbey discs... billy clocks him and says "can you sign this for me?" and hands oakie a 12". Oakie signed it and without missing a beat sticks it up on the wall and goes "thanks, I'll get twenty quid for that" legeng :D

    Just a few belters.

This track you gotta just let play from the start and don't mix it in. The roof will lift off but will hopefully be found in a nearby field.

I heard Armand van Heldens Necessary evil in a nightclub in Galway about 7/8 years ago and the place erupted. It never sounds as good just listening to it at home compared to a nightclub.

Almost everything named so far in the thread I already have on MP3 (dubiously legal if you own a hard-copy - you're allowed one digital backup for archiving purposes) or could find in about 5 minutes of googling. That Acen track , for example, is given away free on your mans website

its such a crazy tune,i remember hearing it on Pulse FM 103.8 i think, back in.....1998 maybe??

    correct me if im wrong.

They never said who it was after the tune, then i sat in greystones cinema waiting for the movie to start, and that tune was playing before the movie started, and i knew i had to get a copy of it!

hmm, another oldskool tune that would be cool to play is Johnny L "hurt you so"..

    could be interesting maybe.

1997 was release, so you are probs right. Legend from the heyday of trance.:D It will still raise the roof in a house party (right crowd present:pac:)

Lil Louis "French Kiss" late 80s? a classic

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 52 ✭✭Luke! Broughan

you're bang on Singlemalt, right in there.

    And in reply to "therewillb"....

"lil louis and the world" track :"french kiss" is an absolute ledgendry track..
a lot of techno and house just got buckets of influence from this corker...

if you like that track by lil louis, have a listen of french kiss(remix by darren emerson) and also listen to a track called "it doesnt have to end" by 16B.

both use the same powerfull, driven bassline.
    i love it

Waterfall 1998? Nah, much earlier, I would say about 1993/1994 to be honest.
