You're right about single points but I think it's fair to say that his attitude is a fairly common one, I was just using it as back up.

Fair play to your friend - if there were more like him this would be much less of an issue.

Look, I totally agree with you that obviously women who go home everytime the child sneezes are taking the p*** and as always they are the ones who give working mothers a bad name but my point is there are plenty of women out there who are doing the best they can to work and be a mother at the same time. I have respect for them but if it came down to a choice between giving your attention to a (genuinely) sick child or being at work I think you couldn't blame a mother for wanting to be with her child.

That's a fair enough point... The only reason I said it in the first place was because of my own experience working with 'working mums', and the majority, yes majority, take the piss. I'm not trying to rise you or stir it up, just pointing it out. It's not just them either, the employers find it a perfectly acceptable excuse. Unlike, as I mentioned earlier, if I told my employer I had to take my pet to the vet... they would laugh in my face..... as would the 'working mum' sitting next to me.

    You're taking the piss, right?

No, I'm asking for you to explain why you think that. Simple?

I'm female and I persoanlly think feminism has gone way too far. It was great to get the vote and stuff like that, but it has now that women are expected to compete with blokes in every way, it's an insult to women. Its like saying, women aren't good enough the way we are, we should turn ourselves into blokes to be worthy. I think thanks to feminism, women are just as trapped as they were before, except instead of being trapped at home when they would like some freedom, they're now trapped at work when some would rather be home with the kids.

And men are still trapped at work, as they have been for all time, oh when will this oppression end!

In my opinion, compared to any other time in human history, women do have it pretty well. The point to bear in mind, as other posters have pointed out is that while women want to be treated as equals, there are fundamental differences between the genders. That's why most women will demand equal pay and respect but will have mixed feelings, at best, if a man belts them. It really does not point out any huge gaps in the logic behind feminism. Personally I do think the term itself is annoying, as it implies that it's all about the advancement of women's rights over men's rather than equality and mutual respect, and if you identify yourself as a feminist people can get a flash of "oh ****, man-hating lesbian hairy person!"

Q: How many feminists does it take to change a lightbulb?
    A: That's not funny.

I'm pretty proud of the fact that as a 13 year old n00b that I had the sense not to pick something like 'UlTrA_K0oL_03'

Wait, UlTrA_K0oL_03 does have a kind of ring to it...
