    Hi all,

just back from doing the interview. i tought the report writing and the verbal evaluation were the hardest. i didnt get half the info down in the report writing. they talk so fast. definetly didnt pass it. the verbal evaluation was also hard.

in the interview, make sure u know ur scenarios inside out. they will twist questions around to try and catch you out. know how a garda would use them. i wasnt asked anything about the phases or subjects. they just stuck to the scenarios. make sure you have back ups.

looks like il have to go through it again. def didnt pass.

if anyone has any questions just ask.

    best of luck to everyone

Interesting....did you ring HQ to find out?

I've never heard of that happening, doesnt make much sense to start them before they know if you've passed the interview or not!
    Good luck in the interview

Hi all, had interview yesterday, second time doing it think it went ok had a female superintendant who was very nice.
Report writing was tough very short and very fast one actor had a thick dub accent which was kinda hard to understand and I'm from Dublin.
Just have to play the waiting game again now.
Best of luck to everyone else who is up in the next few weeks

I'm not sure that's necessarily your background checks underway. I met with my local sergeant at the start of the week and he expressed his intent to call my referees, but he hasn't even sent my form to HQ yet.

Fair enough at least something is going on any who.

Thanks Blue hope you get date soon waiting aint nice.

keep you eyes on public jobs tho i didn't get an email to say there was a message up for me untill a week after i spotted the message on the mesage board .

but if your like me you will be checking 10 times a day;)

Merting a segeant is a beginning of a background check.

They used to start these checks after the interview, but when the process sped up, they start them earlier.

    This is from the charter

I posted details on a scenario in april and got warned :D

"The following is written in the charter for all to see:

    # You may not describe, in any way, details of any role plays, video clips, examinations, questionnaires, spoken word or physical task that may be used in the recruitment process of any employer. Helping someone prepare for an interview is fine, but telling someone what the questions are before the exam is cheating.

If I see any instances of people describing a confidential scenario, video clip or role play that was used by ANY recruiting Emergency Services, I will be handing out bans.

The last thing boards.ie need is another lawsuit on their hands."

pvt. joker is right, we don't do it anymore.

And it's only fair to be honest.

You can try to search the old thread for them, but I think they were all erased.

No you can't anymore. These are intellectual property and yes, I personally erased all references to any scenario or videos in any pre-existing thread when this forum was born.

you can re-apply 6months after your first applied ... so if you applied in May08 then November is the nearest available month to re-apply ...

you may just get lucky IF you have to re-apply in that we know that their will be another one toward the end of this year around Oct/Nov.

I'd wait for your brown envelope though before resigning to the fact that you do actually have to re-apply :)

according to PAS their will definitely be another one toward the end of this year ...

You can appeal in writting to PAS asking firstly for an informal review and if you are not satisifed with that result you can write again asking for a formal review, which will be done by some-one not asociated with the initial process

Thats odd that you have that info from PAS as they told me they can not guarantee when the next recruitment stage will be until a month prior however going by the past Nov would be likely, and when i appealed Verbal evaluation section i was told no one had ever won the appeal that was from head of PAS i dont want to post her name here but she was sure of her facts,(unless they won their appeal after may 08) but she also said theres always a 1st so head up guys thats if anyone has to appeal.

if you to appeal do it straight away, you do get very good feedback on the interview even if you pass it and the report writing section the bad news on the feedback is if like me you only fail on the verbal evaluation it simply says you didnt score high enough to pass(but ring and speak to the name at the end of the page and youl be told by how much you didnt pass by.Thats if your able to take such news as one point

Dude 87 you are right the earliest you could apply is next year or the 2nd recruitment to come if that makes scence, you do have to skip a recruitment. i know this as i had to skip the last recruitment they say 6mths but when they then start to recruit for stage1 the email they send clearly states eg say if they recruit in November 08 it will say if you attented stage 1 between 1st June and 30th July 08 then you CAN NOT apply for this intake.Nothing is worse than thinking you can apply and finally getting that Email its better to know now but but but nobody knows if you have to think about all of the above yet fingers crossed youl do gr8 just relax youve done your best you too SOUNDLAD AND ALL WHO HAVE DONE STAGE 2.;)

One is a friend currently in Henry Street in Limerick and the other one was based on the postings here on boards by the person.

Based on prior recruitment drives their should be one in August but their won't be one in August this year but they are looking at Oct/Nov for the only remaining recruitment drive this year.

You used to have to skip a recruitment drive ... In previous years their were 4recruitment drives a year: Feb/May/August/November ... but this year with none in August they are looking at Oct/Nov.

If it will be in November you won't need to skip a drive if you applied in May 08 as it would be after the 6month from first app (hope this makes sense)

upto 2weeks ago their wasn't going to be one in August ... there was one in May than ran into June due to the number of people who applied and when i made a phonecall i was informed the won't be one in August but their would be one toward the end of this year and they were looking at Oct/Nov ...

If a recruitment drive, where did you find this out?
