I remember the team of '91 very well. Some really great players. The Yugoslav team would have been very hard to stop in Euro 92 if it wasn't for the trouble in the country ruling them out of playing.
I think with the generation of players that was around at that time, had Yugoslavia remained unified they would have become one of the major forces in world football.

Can't see the clips here in work so i'll check them out over the weekend.

    Cheers.

Ah yes, Prosinečki and co. I was trying to remember who else was on that team until I found this. I never realised that Stojković had moved to Marseille and so missed out on the European Cup.

Yes,Stojkovic was fantastic, best of best in that team of Zvezda and he went to Marseille in 1990. and when he was leaving he said as a joke,i hope we will see in final of Champions league....wekk they did,and it wasnt very pleasant for him coz that was really next year and against Marseille in 1991. and Zvezda won on penalties, later he said he regret and thinks that he made biggest mistake coz he didnt stay one more year to win that CL with Zvezda, anyway i bet that team would play few years in a row big act in european football if war didnt come and ruined everything

very good post op.when u look at the team that won the cl it was packed full of young talent that could have won a few cl's if it wasnt broken up.alot of the player were only 22-33 years old.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

The point is we always have great players, but no money to keep them, club lives of selling player and thats sad,i dont want we buy some players i only wish we have money to keep same team 3-4 seasons and i bet we would have fantastic team, example,in season 2006/2007 when we played against Milan in 3rd round qualifications for CL we had players like Zigic(now in Valencia),Jankovic(Palermo),Djokic(Brugge),Perovic(Basel),Purovic and Stojkovic(Sporting Lisbon),Georgiev(Duisburg),Kovacevic and Bisevac(Lens),all team was sold in one year,Pantelic to Herta earlier that season too and its like that every year,i can post you all our transfers in every year, all players going in good clubs every year, thats why they say we are factory of talents and i am just saying we dont need money to buy, just to keep players for 3-4 years in team and i can bet we would make nice success in Europe

How much do you hate Partizan Belgrade?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

Well we are biggest rivals in the country, all country is separated Zvezda or partizan, like example you in Scotland Celtic and Rangers,or other big matches and rivalities.I personally dont have nothing against Partizan, dont like them and their fans but dont hate them,i love my club and thats what is important,Grobari cant be even close to us as fans so they usually making stupid things out of jealousy:D
And i forgot to mention that we are in brotherhood with Olympiacos for 22 years and they visiting our games and we visiting their, you can usually see flag Delije on north part of Karaiskaki stadium, partizan is in same brotherhood with PAOK Thesaloniki, and you all know relation Olympiacos-PAOK,so....when we all gather together....:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdW5RU3IEn8 you get this, basketball game,i was there,25min before game was that, well awful, personally i hate hooliganism and now english specialist helping us to do same they did in England to stop this sh!t and we all return to what we know the best, supporting our clubs

Would you agree that Partizans Savo Milosevic was a useless player?

Actually no,he had a nick monkey here,he was really looking weird on the pitch, but that guy had fantastic feeling for droped balls,he was always on right place to pick up every ball and score,i kinda liked him,he looked like he never played football before and he was really great scorer when you better see, also he have most played games for national team

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

Edit button dont work.....anyway i wanted to say here everyone have own opinion,so some think he is terrible and some he is great, depends, thats coz of that weird style he had probably and that was bad looking, thats why someone dont like him

Eh,if names would play football we would be probably in european top,but right now our team have names and dont have play at all, nobody here understand how we can have such a good players and they play together so lousy, but i must say its the same thing like with Ireland and England

I assume you mean the Savo Milošević that also played for Aston Villa and various clubs in Spain? He was far from useless! Okay, he may not have been the fasted striker but he scored his fair share of goals.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

Yes he means on that one, even Inzaghi looks more like footballer than Milosevic, but as i said except weird style he was really could striker when you see goals he made

delija_sever029, was that '91 team mostly represented by players from Belgrade and the surrounding Serbia area? Or were many of the stars from other parts of old Yugoslavia (Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, etc..) ?

My house mate went to see the game against Cork City last year.
The 300 or so Cork fans had to wait 3 hours for the stadium to empty of coin throwing Serbs, even though Belgrade won 4 or 5 nil.

You know, you have 4 milions serbs all over the Europe,so thats why our national team or clubs always have support wherever they go,just try to watch something and you will see, those folks in Cork wasnt from Belgrade, thats club of fans from London i think and they were definitly guys who live in UK

Oh you mean in 2nd leg, well its rule guest fans have to wait to exit stadium last,it was same with Rangers fans last summer and its same every time when guest fans are coming.Organisation first let our fans to go away of stadium and than they let guests to go,to prevent some incidents

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,065 ✭✭✭✭Malice

No, I was just wondering if it's pronounced differently to the way that it's written like for example the letter 'W' in Polish is pronounced like a 'V' in English.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

Nah,we just read everything letter by letter as it is written

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭ibh

Thats a good policy. If i had my way then i'd do the same with English and remove all silent letters. :D

delija_sever029 by any chance are you in the Delije Ultras, always admired them. Actually have plans to go to Red Star - Partizan game in the coming years, in on my list of matches I plan on going to.

Well lately its not so good to go on Zvezda-Partizan game coz after and before game are always incidents and fights around stadium,i know it by my self coz last time i hardly got out alive from one ambush Grobari made, thats why lately our authorities working with english specialties for hooliganism coz its getting really bad.Now they are making that law and doing procedures like England did with jail and cameras all over the stadium and around so its getting a bit normal now.Coz all those sh!ts happening lately Zvezda-Partizan game dont look so interesting when we talk about fans coz stadiums are half-empty and people dont feel so secure after some things happened but i believe soon those things will stop and as before i hope these games will be again something fantastic when we talk about crowd.Right now i think one of Zvezda's european games would be better choice coz atmosphere is fantastic and cant compare with game against Partizan,i think you can see that already on these videos,Rangers last summer...that was game with fantastic crowd and chants

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yatkjxw3i4 ok i found this weird videos, some Rangers fan came alone in pub with our fans:D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwCMmLzh2eQ this was funny too,30min after game,Delije still singing on empty stadium, you can see in one moment only Rangers fana on south part stadium who are waiting everyone go so authorities allow them to go than too, they had to wait way too long:D
And by the way guy you can hear is our now ex captain of basketball team, who came on game with few more players to lead chants specially for this game:D

This was in Belgrade. The 2006 qualifier game that saw ye play AC Milan next....

No matter where you go i european competition. Away fans are asked to stay behind untill the home fans leave.

Not in Ireland, considering you from there i would assume you knew that...oh wait.... lol only kidding.

In Richmond when Linfield or any Nordie teams come here with a grade A security match, home fans stay until away team fans have left the ground.

Thank celtic and rangers for that one.

Bohs Rovers games its usually home fans leave first, last time it happened in Dalymount a load of the Rovers fans were in a hurry to get home so tried to run across the pitch to pretend to be Bohs fans to avoid having to wait.

I was meaning in European Competition rather than domestic.
The only Irish gorund ive ever been in is Finn Park....they dont get much european football there!:D

In saying that, its the same in scotland as well...away fans are asked to stay behind for 10-15 minutes. It never works though as most supporters buses try and get away as quick as possible.

Setanta Cup is european in my opinion, its another country. Richmond unfortunatley has only one exit so thats how grade A games are treated.

hmmm, i dont think i would describe Setanta Cup as a european competition.
Even then....dont get any of that at Finn Park either! :D

I would however love to see them try and do the Setanta Cup between Scotish and English teams though.....at least after we get through THIS seasons fixtures!
