When i seen all the videos available on youtube, it seems to look like Far Cry meets crysis? I was a fan of the first game, but the extra games were just copy's and i was hoping they wouldn't make another game, Uwe Boll's movie wont help either! :D In this video, the guy seems to exaggerate the game, mostly the AI and how great it is....

god I hate when programmers and developers say "AI". True AI doesn't even exist yet, its basically a buzzword to describe that they've programmed these polygons to hide behind these other polygons when those bullet shaped polygons move towards them.

Still looking forward to Far Cry 2 though.

I will probably end up buying it anyway, but it seems a bit weird in a savanna in Africa with a bit of jungle here and there.

Developers use the term AI to describe the ability for characters/objects in game, to follow a set of actions/reactions. They dont actually think they have created the next (first?) Skynet when using the term. Its just a well-known phrase to show that they have 'smart' enemies. Lets not get into a discussion about what true intelligence though...way to long winded.

I've been following this for a while and am fairly excited about it. It's what Far Cry and Crysis should of been (ie made with out those f*cking aliens and monsters!!!).

I had a sinking feeling when I saw this thread, I hope to god they don't decide to do a Far Cry/Crysis on it and totally cock up the last half of the game

The zebras will turn out to be alien invaders.
And then the giraffes will turn out to be other good aliens that are watching the zebras closely and help you win the final battle to save the wildebeest.

And I'd prefer not to have uber AI in my games, what if it figured out a way to think and gain access to my personal details on my hard drive and then email my friends saying I have porn on it.

    HYPOTHETICAL PORN OF COURSE!

    Not liking the "healing" system.

If they "AI" is that hyper aggressive in the game, where you have to constantly keep moving to stay alive, having to stop in the middle of a firefight to pull bullets out of your leg breaks the flow of the game and prob will end up getting you killed lots.

Seems a bit of a gimick more than anything else, not sure it adds more fun to the game than it takes away.

Do like the fire though, hope you can cause a proper firestorm like they claim.

If you look at the video, your man says that theres loads of different ways he interacts with injuries and it actually repeats it twice in a row the same self healing thing. :D They seem to be trying to get people excited about the new 'flamethrower' too :pac:

Well, I read an interview a while ago where they said specifically that the game is firmly routed in reality and that the Far Cry name was used just as brand recognition. But there's still plenty of time for them to f*ck it up.
