    Hi All

Just upgraded to 8Mb in Swords and have been having nothing but trouble since.
Router is a Zyxel prestige 600 series and is disconnecting repeatedly.

I will check to see if it is still synched when disconnected - have not seen anywhere to set the MTU.

I rang tech support and was asked to set the adaptor to a nailed connection which I did, (which I had already done previously to test and it made now difference). They problem is still there.
I also asked about the slow speed (about .5mb on some occassions) and was told that I should should expect some speed reduction in the evening. I told him that I could accept 'some' speed reduction but that at speeds like that I would be better off with the 1mb broadband.

Im glad to see that I am not the only person with problems.

I am about to email their customer support to seek resolution to my problem.

    Hi Paddyo

You need to be more specific... P600 series model? Could be a P623, they will cause trouble with LLU.

P660RU will normally need the latest firmware and a reset before it can work

    Hi Bohrio

Not at home at present - I will check the model number and download latet firmware if available. I will post back and let you know the results

On a side note, At the time of ordering the 'upgrade', I did ask if my router would be compatible with the 8mb adsl2 and I was told to wait and see and if there were problems they would repalce it.

Yes they will replace it if it is not compatible.

That's good, we shall wait then.

    Sorry Bohrio

Those telnet commands are not working. The chipset must be different, when I telnet in I get a command prompt with busybox v0.61.

I will take another look in a while, I need to go back to work

Am i the only one on the swords exchange with 3mb that hasn't been upgraded yet?

Do i have to get on to BT to request an upgrade or is it done automatically?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 72 ✭✭PotBelly

It was automatically for me, but you may want to ring them to see whats going on. Ring tech support - 1 8 9 0 9 2 3 1 1 1 better than customer service.

Still no Joy with the connection

And since Friday evening the line is not staying Synched for more than a few minutes and we have had no internet at all over the weekend.

Did anyone else have problems over the weekend?

Rang support on Saturday - 3-4 working days until it will be fixed. Was very unhappy about this and asked to speak to supervisor - I am still waiting for a call back.

I have had problems since I was upgraded lat Friday week and now I am be being told it will be another 3-4 days. I think it maybe time to look elsewhere.

Did you remember to get your routers model number?

If you called on Saturday then you wont get a call until at least today.

    Hi Bohrio

It is a Zyxel Prestige 660RU-T1

I have upddated the firmware to the latest version as you suggested.

I am going to bring home a 1 or 2 different adaptors/routers to try them this evening.

    Paddyo

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,752 ✭✭✭Bohrio

Yes I can see that now ;)... your line is not the best though. Your line attenuation is 41 dB that should give you better sync speeds (currently max rate is ~6.8mb).

For the moment, downgrading you to a solid 3 mb profile should improve things.

I know it sounds repetive but make sure you are on the main socket and not using extension (make sure everything is filtered, things such as an alarm, sky...)

Testing the connection with a different router will be great but in my opinion you should get a router from BT. They will send you a test one no extra charge.

You will probably receive a manager callback in a while anyway.

    Thanks Bohrio

Nothing else is connected to the phone line.

Can anything be done about the line?

We will see what happens next.

    Thanks for your assistance Bohrio

Just had a call from a supervisor as you said.

He has restored my faith somewhat - lets see how it all works out.

    Once again - thank you

Thought I'd throw some good news in here today.

Today's broadband speed has me downloading an EXTRA 120Kb/s over my normal download speeds of the past 4 weeks.

It's where I think it should have been 4 weeks ago, but today it's been very solid and very fast.

Not sure why but I'm not complaining....

(If you've been doing something Bohrio - Thank you!)
