Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is the xbox 360 elite or halo version in anyway more reliable than the classic pro v?

I have owned my xbox 360 pro v for about 7 months now and recently it has been freezing during play. I'm going to bring it back to gamestop to see what they can do for me. I don't want another xbox failing on me and have heard of some ppl who have had several consoles fail on them. I just wanted to know are the other versions more reliable or are they just as likely to fail?

    Thanks

The Elite and halo edition are as just as likely to fail if they are using the older gpu. A new gpu was released last year which may help the problem, heres how you can tell if a console has a new gpu : http://forums.xbox.com/15804553/ShowPost.aspx .

It may be worth reading : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818358

Gamestop might give you a straight swap, which would be sweet, but if they dont and want to send the console back for repair then it might worth your while doing it youself, I got my console shipped the same day I rang ms support (all paid and arranged by MS), who knows how long some yokel in gamestop could decide to take to ring them.

    Best of luck fixing it.

cheers I've no interest in having an extra 100gb on my hard drive I just find it extremely irritating that an expensive piece of hardware like this can fail just after 7 months use and that being the norm. does anyone know how long it usually takes to get an xbox back from repair. My friend was held up for 4 months in an attempt to get his repaired.

According to the MS website its up 10 working days after they recieve it, i shipped mine on tuesday and ups say its there now. its really 3-4 weeks realisticly. It has to go to germany, so if it gets lost or whatever you`ll probably have to wait even longer while they figure out what to do.

I brought the elite in the hope it would be less prone to this crap, guess i was wrong big time.

The new GPU is not out yet. Falcon model 360s are a reduced size cpu not gpu.

The new GPU is was codenamed Jasper last I heard and isn't out yet.

Correct, sorry I got a bit mixed up. Anyway the falcon is supposed to have a lower failure rate, so its worth your while trying to find one.
