Just looking at subarus claims about the performance figures for the limited run WR1. They are clearly complete rubbish.

The car had 20bhp more than a stanard WRX sti and weighed only 5kg less. Yet they claim it was almost a second faster to 60 than the WRX and 2 seconds faster for a quarter mile. Its impossible to achive that kind of performance boost with only 20hp more.

Also they tested both cars on the top gear test track and the WR1 in bone dry conditions was only 0.6 seconds faster than the standard WRX. And they claim the car is almost a second faster to 60 so how does that equate to 0.6 of a second over a whole lap?

Subarus marketing people pulled a fast one. Just bringing it up because some lad was trying to tell me the WR1 delivers M3/C63 typre performance which it clearly doesnt.

    Whats the torque difference?

    WR1 - 309lbs torque @ 5800 rpm

    WRX - to 253lbs @ 4000rpm

Gearbox ratios are probably different too.

It is better to make torque at high rpm than at low rpm, because you can take advantage of gearing. Also the WR1 could have different gear ratios more suited to faster acceleration ect...
