    Hi All

I hope you can give me some advise as I could really do with some! I have a house currently in Trim with my partner but we are spiltting up and selling the house. I am thinking of buying my own place out here but I dont know if I am going to isolate myself. My family are in Dublin and I have one friend in Trim, one in Navan and two in Blanch.

I'm worried I would get quite lonely if there was no-one around. I absolutely adore Trim and really don't want to leave and it would be cheaper to buy here then back in Dublin.

Would you stay somewhere even if there was not that many people around that you know? How could I go about socialising and making new friends in Trim?

    Anyone any ideas or advise?

The above thread was up a while ago about a book club that was being pondered. Might be a start.

I know there's lots to do with horses and fishing in Trim too, but I dont do either, so I'll let someone with actual knowledge of them post the details.

It appears that there is quite an active theatre in Trim too, and I think there are some singing/choral groups which I imagine would welcome new people.

Dont blame you not wanting to leave Trim, I love it. Good luck with it.

Trim is great alright - why not stick around for a while at least. Suss out what activities are about the place - there's loads. You'll find great company about the town. You will need to make a little effort yourself though (this isn't just Trim - i think its the natural order of things). When we moved here about 10+years ago we were amazed at the amount of activities that were available if they took your fancy. I think quite a number of the 'club' type of activity may wind up over the summer months so i'd give it at least 6-9 months before any decision that would see you move. I lived in Navan for about a year before that - worked there for a good 7 years and don't get me wrong its a large urban town - to me its nice to visit, grand to work in and close enough to Trim to avail of the shopping facilities, but my personal preference was for something a little quieter and more.... well 'homely' (all of this is of course subjective and only reflects my personal taste). In Trim you could try a new sport - athletics, tennis, badminton, gaa, karate, or try something along the arts maybe drama or musical society or flower arranging (if that'd be your thing!) - basically theres loads out there to try. It needs you to decide you want to give it a go.

I hope it all works out for you.

    Cheers.

Thanks for replying. In my heart of hearts I want to try and stay here. I'm settled here and I love Trim, especially during the summer. I do need to get myself involved in local activities.

I guess I am not that far away from Dublin. It's not like I'm on the other side of the world.

I think I will try and stay here. No matter what happens.
