Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am interested in becoming a resource teacher but I cannot seem to find any information on how to qualify on google or the teaching websites. I've also tried qualifax.ie but to no avail. Can anyone tell me the various routes available to qualify as a resource teacher in primary schools?

All resource teachers I know were previously primary school teachers who decided to work in this area after they were qualified.

Qualified secondary teachers sometimes also work as resource teachers.

    Hi furbo,,
check out the teaching council website "teachingcouncil DOT ie"
    then
    REGISTRATION SECTION
    then
    QUALIFICATIONS
    then choose
Primary or Post Primary...(Its down in paragraph 8 or 9 i think either SNA or Resource)

Ideally youd need a years Dip in Special needs (They give a list of the colleges that run them) ... Hours mighn't be that good to start with esp. if there are other teachers already doing it in the school.

It can be very rewarding but not for everybody... also if you want to get yourself started you can do an online (accredited by DEpt of ED.) course from July to aug... "icepe DOT eu" costs about 300euros ...wont get you the job but looks good on top of Hdip qualifications

    Hope that helps.
