Is there a need for a prize at the moment ? All the hassle in setting up a paypal, thinking/getting money for a prize etc

I think iaguz will dominate this tournament. He is woefully high on the axis rankings.

I should be able to get 2 more players. Let you know if I do.

If we wanted to do something abit different we could do a league with points.
This way it would not matter if we had an uneven number of players or less than 16.

We each play the other players twice. Once as axis once as allies.

Winner Via Annhilation gets 3 points, winner via vp gets 2 points and a loser who gets the enemy vp down to under 250 points gets 1 point.

We could also have it that a player gets to pick a home map. So that half his games would be on this one map. The other half will be on the home maps of the other opponents.

We would just have to play a set number of games a week and someone to organise the matches.

Just an idea. Let us know what you think.

If we have a good number of players, as in say 16+ would it be better to have 2v2 games, as opposed to 1v1 games. It'll save time, not having to play over a possible 2nd weekend etc

Well I would suggest that you download a couple of Iagus's replays from gamereplays.org to get an idea of how he plays if ya are all so worried about him ( I suggest http://www.gamereplays.org/CompanyofHeroes/replays.php?game=25&tab=upcoming&show=details&id=35298 )

The suggestion of a league is a good idea if the numbers are below 16 but it looks as though we might have enough yet as the number has gone up from 9 to 13 in a matter of minutes

A few 2 v 2 games can also be organised on the day for the people who get knocked out early

A problem with the date i have suggested has arised and it might have to be change to the 17th of June

I hope somebody here can help me,but i've found out why I cant conect to relic online,couple months before xmas I think,relic released a patch that had to installed manually once it was downloaded,I did'nt do that,and I think thats why I cant connect,but the problem is now it wont let download it cuz its already downloaded if ya get me?so have ye any idea where the downloaded patch might be?Is it in the relic somewhere?

Well I did a google search for "Company of Heroes patches" and got a slew of results to download the patch manually to the HDD; are you using vanilla CoH, or do you have the Opposing Fronts expansion?

Im using opposing fronts,I think im using patch 2.103 or sumthing if thats any help.

You need CoH: OF patch 2.301. If you connect to Relic Online as per usual then it should prompt a download anyway, so if you can play online normally then you are fully updated and don't need to worry about this.

That whole patch debacle only affected people who had manually downloaded and installed the patch before they decided to roll back because of game breaking bugs. If you had installed it I don't think you would've been able to patch up to the most recent version which you have.
Relic online is kind of manky so it's more likely it doesn't like your isp or router or something. The patch about to go into beta testing now is hopefully gonna make it more friendly to people connecting with each other.

Best bet would be to do a reinstall, you'd sort out the patching problems then I'd say.

If it would not be too much trouble u could reinstall the game and download the patches and install the patches in their respective order (there are 7 files)

First of all he is Australian and second of all he has a few major flaws that can be picked up on in his replays
There is no doubt that he is a great player but like the rest of us he is not perfect

Uh, by top USA player I think he means I currently hold the number 1 position for the USA 1v1 leaderboards. Which I do. It's kinda neat I guess.

Actually that's another point - maybe I missed it in the posts ealier, but how will games be organised exactly? I'm a Brit player mostly, with only the occassional Wehrmacht game being my other preference; how will it be decided who plays as allies/axis?

You did, look near the start, Azza outlines how factions are chosen. You will have to play as both axis and allies at least once in each match.

Well not being in the top 20 for any faction yourself then I think it's at best naive to think you can exploit any "flaws" a guy who's in the top 20 for all factions has.
It's very easy to watch a replay and say what a player should've done. Doing it yourself is a whole different matter.

That is very true and i respect ur opinion but i am just trying to study my opponent and i would like to know a bit about his style of play instead of going into the match blind...and next year when i am in college u better believe that i will be in the top 20 for the Wehr.:D

On a side note, anyone seen or even tried the 4es strat? link Seems insanely micro intensive. Tried it against the cpu, might give it ago online later. While your around iaguz, watched the replay involving you, what you think of it?

Hmm, it's ok I guess. Very micro intensive, as noted, and certainly not unstoppable. It's main strengths are it's unexpected nature (I mean, seriously, who the **** goes 4 engi's first to snipers? Madness!) and it's ability to counter what the wehr throws at it. Rangers make T1 forces cry, and there's not much reason to go T2 against snipers becuase Grenadiers ain't gonna do ****. Rangers are also good against T3 so that's not much of an option.

It's main weaknesses is the importance of the snipers, losing them early = GG and for weak individual unguarded soldiers that's quite possible. the second weakness is early game map control. Until rangers pop out there's not much you can do to hold onto territory. I probably could have gone T4 to counter him and I strongly suspect that it would have worked because ostwinds and panzer 4's beat down on Rangers hard, especially when backed up by a handful of Volks. And if the strategy is used a lot more then it won't be quite as unexpected and I believe proper Wehr counters will be contemplated.

I think it's a fun, nasty strategy but I think as far as being a metagame strategy it won't last. I could be wrong though. Time shall tell.

That strategy is good and as Iaguz pointed out it is based on the element of supprise.Whiel it may be a good strat. but i always think that u should have ur own strat and maybe have one for every map because they are all different

Interesting tactic, though to be honest, any strat that's based off keeping your snipers alive is wobbly to say the least. Micro'ing is all very well, but one flukey shot and you've lost the game. Also, surely that tactic fails easily to those fast Panzer Elite vehicles, mines or no mines (I haven't watched the attached replays so can't comment)

At the moment it doesn't fail to anything when done by someone that can handle the micro.
Handling the snipers would be my problem too. They're so fragile. In one of the replays, against orangeslurpee, he loses two snipers to butterfly bombs. It's kinda late mid game so it's not as crippling as it could've been.

I'm playing a lot of 1 on 1 lately. What i was trying to say is i'm not a GOD, instead of good. I'm currently lvl 5(10-2) panzer and lvl 5 british(6-1). I just hope my router's will survive the tournament...when someone attemps to connect it, it crashed my connection.

I lost 2 ranked game because of this...kind of sucks. Anyway. How many room are still open. I might know some people who want to join.
