Family Car

Perhaps someone with considerable more knowledge than myself may be able to help.

I am looking for a family car. I have just found out that the Missus is expecting our second child (1st is 9 months!) - Yipee!!. However - this is going to be a problem from a car point of view. I currently have a Primera and the boot is too small - there is no way that we could get 2 buggies in there combined with all of the other baby stuff.

So really need to get it changed. Any suggestions?

Only criteria is that it must be under 15k, 2nd hand - probably no older than 2004. Would prefer under 1.6 diesel as we have to travel 100k each work day. (few more criteria there that I thought!!)

Would appreciate any suggestions.

If you want 04 or above your probably looking at a peugeot 406 or renault estate.....personally I wouldn't touch either of them with a barge pole..they'll be worth nothing when you go to resell them....

My top pick on carzone is this 02 bmw estate, low milage, all the toys, parking sensors for the misses...

It's a 1.8 but shouldn't be to hard on juice...you'll need an extra few horses under the bonnet with all the extra weight.....Petrol is also now cheaper than diesel...

Was thinking the same, I have a liftback avensis with a huge boot. Still don't think it would allow two full size buggies. Would fit two strollers I'd say though. I reckon you'll need an estate. Or a double buggy?

Not related to cars, but related to your issue... Do you need two prams?

Thanks for all your replies! Not sure about buying a buggy just yet. Missus is a bit superstitious about that kind of stuff (so don't ask why I am getting a car but not a buggy!!!).

The Picasso looks like a very good option - anyone have any thoughts on how good a picasso is???

Have a look a look at the mk2 Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi. For 15k you'd get a 2006, very practical car, huge boot and will do over 1000k to a tank of diesel. Look for the Elegance model it has climate control.
