capri wanted

hi, I'm looking for a ford capri, love them. only really looking for a 2litre post 1981. drove a 2.8i tonight, wow........but the tax is 1150 p.a and the insurance.....:mad:
saw a few on the usual sites but none that grabbed me.....will be for everyday use so has to be in fairly good nick.

would a pre 1978 do anything for you? classic tax and insurance. also consider Opel Manta.

mantas are nice but REALLY have my heart set on a capri.....was recommended by a guy "in the know" to stick to post 1980's for some degree of reliability. this from a girl who can't even change a wheel!

In fairness reliability on a car of this vintage is a relative term and should be judged on a car by car basis rather than the general make or model itself.

A guy had a black hand painted one in Ennis, not sure if its still around. Would be a cheap project but alott of work with Nitromors !!:eek: Perhaps the OP shouldtry on the Classic motors forum

Im not sure if your friend realises this but capris from late '74 on were mechanically almost identical. the reliability of a car from '78 say, should be none less than that of a car from '87 if they were both maintained properly.

the older mark 2 capri ('74 - '78) falls into the classic tax classification - theres your tax woriies solved

I have owned a 74 Capri since last summer. Good reliable car, although I have only put up about 3000 miles on it. I wouldn't be mad for it as a daily driver unless I was doing low milage though.

I'd go for the mrk 1 as well , best looking of thr bunch with classic tax and insurance

This one's for sale near me, the owner died recently and his family are selling off his cars. It's a 2 litre automatic converted to 3 litre, very sound and looks very well. They're asking 10k euros for it, I can give you contact details if your still looking. It's vintage too so cheap tax and insurance should apply.
