Forum Meet Ups: Why Don't You Go?

Like many other boards people, Pighead has never been to an official boards beers. And its not as though they don't happen often enough The lads in the "Fat Bellies, Baldie Heads and Timebomb Hearts" forum seem to meet up every 2nd week at this stage.

So why don't you go? Is it because you're horrifically ugly and you're afraid that if you go people will start doubting the veracity of that thread you started last year entitled "I just had a threesome with 2 stunning supermodels and they enjoyed it more than me". Or is it just be too much stress to be meeting with 50 or 60 new people at the one time.

Pigheads reason is simple. Maroonment. Pigheads forever getting marooned. There could be a room with 767 people in it, 764 of them being the most charming, funny, easy going people you'd care to meet and you can be guaranteed that Pighead will end up talking to the 3 geeks who cite Professor Frink, Screech and Paul from the Wonder Years as their heroes.

    So why don't you go?

They're usually too far "over there" for me to be able to attend with any ease.

Ehhhh cause the commute would be too long.

Thats a poor excuse. C'mon Aidan we live in Ireland, not China. Its gonna take you 3 hours max on a train to get up to the big city and as a mod you're allowed to sleep in any regular boards users house without even asking them so it must be something else. Lazyness, secret hatred of other mods, tragic accident involving loss of limbs?

    You're right, I admit it. I have a problem.

I can't stop the regular users from taking the coke and hookers.

What a spanner. You're interested in why Pighead doesn't go to forum meets yet you refuse to read the message where Pighead explained exactly why he doesn't go to forum meets? Join the dots togster, if you want to know the answer there is a way of finding it out.

Your sex life is probably similar, you complain about the lack of joyous squidgy liquidy sex in your life and wonder what you're doing wrong and in the very next breath you say "I don't like it when girls talk to me, so I hide in the cupboard"

Relax Pighead. Sand and vagina and all that. I simply asked why you don't go....?

Pighead has already told you why he doesn't go! And whats all this talk about sandy vaginas? Is that why you're scared of girls?

Meeting with people from the internetz doesn't appeal. I use boards to pass the time in work, not to meet up with people who are all more than likely paedophiles and serial killers :p

I would go to one of the Galway meetups but they always seem to clash with something else that I'm doing. This weekend's one being yet another example :(.

Pighead doesn't go because his "normal" boards alterego is in attendance.
The body they share hasn't figured out how to be two people, in the same place as the same time. Yet.

For the people that do go to Forum Meet Ups, do you introduce yourself with your real name at meets, or carry on using your user name?

Like if coolock boy arrived would he introduce himself with a "Hi I'm coolock boy, you may rememer me from such threads as "How to find a burd"

Ahh Pighead. You were missed at the Chistmas beers for the handing out of prizes. You are a major celebrity around here I'm sure people would be clambering to talk to you, and not just the bores. Why don't you turn up to the next beers incognito if you are apprehensive. Tell people you don't post on boards much but your reg name is baconface_III or something?

I'd have no problem going to one of these but it would be wierd alright. Didn't know they happened so often. Pighead you making an appearance would be quite an event I suspect.

ACTUALLY, you probably have been going posing as someone else haven't you!?

I'd go to the Galway beers but they're always on when I'm busy, and this one will be the last before I move anyway so that's that.

I think that if Pighead went to beers it would ruin the illusion. Imagine knowing that Pighead is a fat, baldy, spotty woman? It wouldn't be the same!

I always get the impression that everyone else would already know each other and I'd wandering about looking slightly lost, saying 'hi, I'm super_furry,' with everyone asking 'who?' or nodding politely before turning to their mates.

I usually introduce myself with my real name and add "rbie on Boards" in somewhere. I'd much prefer if people just called me by my real name when at a beers or whatever, though I usually end up just being called Rb, which I suppose is alright but then a lot of people start calling me Rob. Which is wrong.

would like to attend one but i think i'd be too freaked out walking into a pub alone, looking for someone who looks like they post on a forum. though monkeyfudge's idea of cream eggs or whatever seemed novel.
