Why is it taking so long for Eircom to fix BT's problem?

We got BT broadband into our house, and so far the modem has just been decorating our floor. Apparently our line is set up for use with Bitstream (due to the incorrect cancellation of a previous bb package) instead of ADSL, does that even make sense?
And now, we have to wait on Eircom to change this, so that BT can get our BB up and running, but it has been over a week... just to change one setting...

Why is it apparently taking Eircom so long? And why won't BT push them to change it? Any thoughts?

Who told you this, BT? BT ADSL is a bitstream (re-sold eircom broadband) product, unless you wanted BT's own unbundled 8Mbps product. If eircom enabled the line for their broadband (or a wholesale bitstream for another provider), and now BT want to unbundle the line, then there's going to be a delay. Was the previous broadband yours, or a previous occupant in the house, and do you know when this was canceled?

Yep, BT told me this. The Product Specialist told me that a setting on my router which is now at G.DMT should be at ADSL. I don't have any details on any of the previous bb in the house. We were told that we would start off at the 3Mbps to be upgraded to 8Mbps in a few weeks.

it just goes from bad to worse!

We now have a phone line problem apparently. There is a dial tone, but we can't make or recieve calls! Eircom engineer says its to do with the internal lines - which doesn't make sense since we have a dial tone.
