Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No sign of a thread, so here goes.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/fa_cup/7393770.stm
Portsmouth centre-back Sol Campbell (hamstring) and keeper David James (calf) have returned to training ahead of the FA Cup final against Cardiff.

Strikers David Nugent and Kanu should overcome niggles to boost Pompey who are without the cup-tied Jermain Defoe.

Cardiff's Robbie Fowler has not played for five months since hip surgery but the ex-England striker will have a late fitness test before Saturday's clash.

Paul Parry is set to continue up-front alongside Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

    C'mon Pompey!!!

no chance of any sleep tonight, PMT has set in and I have to be up at 4am to get a 6:30 flight.

    Still, it's only once every 69 years:D

    Come on Pompey
    :D:D

I hope there is a lot of goals, for nostalgia reasons im gunning for Cardiff as the retirement home for faded stars and never quite made it types

5-2 Cardiff, i make allowance in the scoreline for Mr. David James, watch out on those corners!

spice boys reunion with James & Fowler! i think white suits should be worn for the occasion

Robbie to come off the bench to win it for Cardiff. What a way for th legend and God to show that he is the man. Fingers crossed anyway.

I'll be watching it with my Cardiff jersey on.

    C'mon the bluebirds.

Robbie Fowler last scorer 10-1, Mcphail last scorer 33-1, 2 quid on each, come on Cardiff!

I can't believe this board sometimes. There's 3 hours until the cup final which has a Championship side in it. But yet there's only been 9 replies:rolleyes:

    Hope Cardiff win anyways.

Pompy to win this because I absolutely detest Gobbie Fowler.

ait for the Leeds fans to come in here and promote their continued support for Pompey today. Cant be looking at Peter Ridsdale with a smug grin parading around the trophey, so on the back of that, 'Mon the Pompey!

You're right, if this were a Man Utd - Liverpool occassion there would be 4-5 pages already and the game would be awful to boot. :pac: I hope we get an open match

    Mike.

Can't be any worse than last year's anyway

  • Registered Users Posts: 613 ✭✭✭smog

hoping for a good game, nice to not see the top four this year!
roll on a good open game of football hopefully (and no ref ruinin moments)

Robbie Fowler out of Cardiff squad:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

McPhail with the armband pulling the strings and the Bank up front. One time Cardiff!

This is the most anticipation I've had for a final since Millwall played Utd a few years ago. Great to have two teams for which the day is a huge deal. Lets hope it's a good one.

That's an absolutely stupid decision by Sky there. Not having a backup plan if the play off game went to extra time. They'll lose a lot of viewers to BBC.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭SectionF

Shouting for Pompey, but that was a brilliant piece on BBC by that Cardiff actor, dripping with contempt for Big Four, rugby and twee Welshness.
Swap GAA for rugby there and you have the view from eL.

Don't worry, you can watch that again in 4 days time for a bigger prize ;)

I'm up for Pompey cause I want Harry Redknapp to win something meaningful. Done a great job there

2 quid down the drain on fowler so. Was hoping to see him play today. Hope its a good game, pompey have been in rotten form lately so cardiff have a real chance me thinks.

Anyone know what odds they're at now?

Probably one of the few times I've heard that song the whole way through, whether I'm at home or in the pub the tv is invariably muted for it!!

Not gonna let it hi-jack the thread. You know why.

Back on topic, both teams seem very nervous in the first few minutes,

well said and im guessing he he supports an English club.

So why are yo watching an English Cup competition?

Because I like football. Seriously that is all on the matter from me or this could turn ridiculous, this forum seems to be the one most resembling a constantly ticking timebomb on boards.

What a miss from Kanu, great work before that but should have finished.

    Enckleman sucks

I was quite surprised to see Fowler and Hasselbaink playing for Cardiff, didnt know that,i just dont get whats the point after those careers to play for small club in 2nd league, what motivation they have...

    No atmosphere at all.

The new Wembley Stadium doesn't have anything like the sort of atmosphere that the Millennium Stadium can generate.

Fowler is younger than you think! ;)

Hasselbaink has been good in the Championship this year by all accounts and is still putting in the effort both on and off the pitch. I think that if players still enjoy playing and are still able to offer something to somebody they should go on for as long as they want to.

Interesting to watch him today all the same - he has lost all of his pace and mobility.

Portsmouth win and go to europe

Cardiff were by far the better team in the final, very unfortunate to lose.
Enckleman was a complete disaster in goals, cost Cardiff the match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭aidan24326

Sh1t game. Oh for the days of good cup finals.

The portsmouth defence were good but Cardiff just didn't quite have enough class up front to threaten them, it was all huff and puff.

Good to see it being won by somebody outside of the usual big 4anyway.

And Kanu man of the match? Apart from the goal he didn't do alot. Should have been one of the defenders, Distin was very good.
