Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has the person any proof that they are going onto Laos? If not then it'll be a problem if they are asked. The chances are they won't be.

Also, I think that flights to neighbouring countries aren't even enough anymore but this doesn't seemed to be imposed at all.

The person may or may not be asked. Just depends on the officer. Officially you are supposed to be able to prove onward travel or a return flight but most westerners are not asked because they know they are Thailands main source of tourism income.

If your friend has proof of onward travel to Laos for within 30 days of his arrival in Thailand then he will be fine and will not need a visa for Thailand. He will get a 30-day stay stamp on arrival in Bangkok.

If he does not such proof, or if his ticket to Laos is for a date more than 30 days after his Thai arrival then he should obtain a tourist visa from the Thai Consulate in Dublin. Strictly speaking the aforementioned 30-day stamp is given at the airport in Bangkok on the basis that you have proof you'll be gone before its expiry. That said, as another poster pointed out, Thailand will not be bothered about a lack of proof of onward travel. However your airline may refuse your friend for the flight at the airport. The reason for this is that if the Thais were to apply their rule strictly and reject you, then the airline will have to fly your friend back home at the company's expense. I must add that I am not sure how likely it is that the airline would do that but it would be better to be safe than sorry.
