reaper question

    How do I use the midi functions in reaper without a midi keyboard?
    When I bring up the virtual keyboard it has letters on it, so I can use the keyboard of my laptop to play these notes, but when I press the these letters no audio is produced, although the keys light up.
    Theres probably a setting I have to change but I just can't figure it out.

    The Reaper download doesn't include the manual so maybe you don't have it. Be sure to down load it and have it handy, there's a lot in there. It sounds like you don't have the keyboard assigned to an instrument. You can get the manual here: http://www.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/REAPER_User_Guide
