That Spanish squad looks very strong but knowing Spain they will probably underachieve like always. Mikel Arteta is surely a bit unlucky not to make it though.

Come on Sweden! We blew our big chance in 94 and have nowhere near the squad we did then now but if Greece can win any organised squad can.

Holland's squad looks really poor. They'll probably win it.

Anyone know what Spain are best priced? Ladbrokes offered me 5/1 but I reckon I can do better if I shop around

Hardly unlucky when you look at those that are ahead of him

    Italy's provisional Euro 2008 squad:

Goalkeepers: Gigi Buffon (Juventus), Marco Amelia (Livorno), Morgan De Sanctis (Sevilla)

Defenders: Christian Panucci (Roma), Fabio Cannavaro (Real Madrid), Marco Materazzi (Inter), Gianluca Zambrotta (Barcelona), Andrea Barzagli (Palermo), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Fabio Grosso (Lyon)

Midfielders: Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus), Andrea Pirlo (Milan), Gennaro Gattuso (Milan), Massimo Ambrosini (Milan), Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Simone Perrotta (Roma), Alberto Aquilani (Roma), Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina)

Strikers: Luca Toni (Bayern Munich), Antonio Di Natale (Udinese), Quagliarella (Udinese), Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus), Marco Borriello (Genoa), Antonio Cassano (Sampdoria)

suprised super Pipo didn't pop up in there - fantastic poacher. He is coming back from injury tho, and didnt see much time on the pitch in the last competition.

Absolutely gifted player, just a bit mentally unstable. Has had a good season in Serie A from what I hear.

Great squad for the French, whole lot of potential in there. Favourites?

What's more, that will be an unbelievable team come 2010:

    Sagna----Gallas
    Abidal
    Evra/Clichy
    Flamini
    Diarra/Toulalan----
    --Ribery
    ????
    Ben Arfa---
    Benzema

Stick a quality attacking central midfielder/playmaker (another Zidane comeback?!) in there and that could be another World Cup-winning French side, espcially with the strength in depth they have.

    Samir Nasri ;)

Potential game winner and match changing player. he'll hardly start too many games, but he could prove lethal from the bench

This chap looks the business. Newcastle are supposedly trying to lodge a bid asap, and Keegan was watching him play 3 weeks ago. However, with the two crackers he scored last night, and his inclusion in the Euro squad, I foresee another Modric happening to us.

Here are his goals from his debut last night:

I meant he (Arteta) is unlucky to have so many class players vying for the midfield positions. He's a quality player himself who would be in most squads.

Wow, the Bundesliga is far and away the best represented national league at Euro 2008... La Liga is surprisingly high up there too, especially seeing as its probably got the biggest South American contingent of any European league.

Ya he is out of the tournament. Huge blow for Italy. Definately can't see them winning it now.

France: Vieria out (ankle), Flamini in

Italy: Montolivo left out of their final squad. He had a pretty good season with Fiorentina didn't he?

Poland: I seen on the Beeb there that Poland grabbed themselves a Brazilian forward recently, just in time for the tournament. Nice :)

Russia: Pogrebnyak is out injured. He's supposed to be like good, right? I think a couple of boardsies have him on the their FF team.

In fairness if England and Ireland had of qualified the Premiership would have had a lot more. Suprising though all the same considering nobody talks about the German leagues, if you had of asked people who had the most representitives they would have said the Prem or La Liga.

I don't think there’s anything surprising there really, the English, German, Italian and Spanish leagues are the strongest in Europe. The German and English leagues would have more Europeans instead of South Americans relative to Serie A or La Liga. Of that list the Premier League is the only league there which does not have a national team as representative.
