My GF is due to have our first baby on the 14th June, I am trying to work out odds to run a little book with my friends on the Exact Date / Time / Weight of the Baby.

I am not looking to make any money off it, just a bit of fun to get everyone interested.

Any ideas on the odds I should be Laying around the dates etc...

I have never set up anything like this.

    Cheers

I love a punt as much as the next man, but I wouldn't tempt fate like this.

Just relax, and hope it's got 5 toes on each foot etc....

    Every outcome or event?

Doesn't look like you've put much thoughts in the odds really.

How have you figured out that the birth has the same chance of being early and late?

Slightly odd question but why not just run it like a sweepstake? 24 people stick in a tenner, each one gets an hour of the day picked form a hat and winner gets the pot. Simple. Assuming that the baby comes along on the due date and your Mrs. doesn't cheat and get a C Section

Point taken and accepted. This is just for laughs. All the touching wood etc... is being done every day.

It's grand, sure I'm sure she probably ran a book with her girlfriends on the identity of the father. Joke. Congratulations. And actually there was a time from around the middle of the 17th century until the industrial revolution when people would wager on anything - horse racing, dog racing, boxing, cock fighting, dog fighting, bear baiting, births, marriages, deaths etc.

A sweepstake/Tote type bet works best, that way you don't losr money if you don't sell enough, and odds adjust to number of people

Do babies still get born on the weekends? Arent some induced on fridays so doctors can go home? You should take that into account!
