Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It will defo be an option for me in future. Do you stay over or fly back same night? Where would you stay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I'd advise against it personally, I like to do it in a day trip. But if you have to stay (CL nights for example) there are lots of youth hostels that I stay in. Try hostelworld.com

In terms of which games are easiest to travel to, 12:15 and 3:00 (if we ever have them again) are the best. You can fly in and out that day, even from Liverpool. 5:15 is pushing it just. CL games are 2 day trips, unless you're driving.

Also be careful as I don't think Sky have announced kick off times so the day of the game could change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

And once they are announced, Ryan Air will up the prices. Best thing you can do is be online at the time when they are announced, and then book asap.

Oh, a nouveau riche Chelsea fan looking down his nose at others!

Not a chance in hell Moyes would even consider it and I think that himself and Fergie are too similar personality-wise for it to work.
Nothing to do with me being a Chelsea fan.As a football fan i find his comment incredibly stupid.

Think about it, its not that silly.
The Everton boss was very nearly offered the role of Ferguson's number two when he was Preston boss before the appointment of Carlos Quieroz first time round. His lack of 'Europeanness' counted against him on that occasion. However, he's achieved wonders with a limited Everton squad. It's a big jump from Everton to Manchester United though and Moyes would represent a huge gamble for the board.
Alex Ferguson doesn't take on big names as his no. 2 He takes on proven football men with ambition. As I said before I don't think Querioz will go but if he did Moyes would be a contender.
lets face it how many of you had heard of Queiroz or McClaren before they went to United.
Do you realise how stupid that is?
Everton are a team going places,Moyes is a manager going places! Why go to any team in the world as a Assisitant?! He would 100% prefer to take the job on his achievements as a manger aswell instead of being the No.2 then stepping up.

    This wont happen!

Trilla i apoligise for generalizing but you do get quite a few foolish posts in here like this.

I don't like the idea of a No. 2 taking over anyways. Can anyone tell me has there been a manager in recent history who has been assistant and taken over and been succesful. I can think of a few who flopped but no success stories coming to mind right now.

What about Sammy Lee... oh ....right....:)

Who out there would be a good (and plausable) replacement for Carlos? I like the idea of someone at the club taking over. From what I've read CQ has been instrumental in developing the fitness/training regeimes at the club and I wonder if that would be lost if he leaves.

reports on spanish radio this evening that real will pay €85 million for ronaldo, that the deal is basically done

no links as it is on the radio but will probably be later

united have already moved to deny it

That is a peach of a jersey alright, if it real i'll definitely be picking it up, But can they really get rid of the black jersey after just one season??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,608 ✭✭✭Spud83

Looks good but imagine its fake for a couple of reason.

    1) Normally not allowed replace a kit after one season (i.e the black one)
    2) The label on the shirt collar has no nike symbol on it.
    3) The text circling the crest says 40th anniversary. The 40th anniversary (European Cup win) was last year/season. Wouldn't make sense to have one this year.

Sorry lads looks like a fake to me, or possible one that was a prototype from last year, but the black one was brought in instead because the club didn't want to bring in a jersey celebrating the achievements of 40 years ago as the wanted the focus on the tragedy of 50 years ago.

    FAIL!

On the nike site up until today, when they removed, it was released long before it should have been , basically made a fcuk up hence why its now available to view to the general public.

JAMIE CARRAGHER has urged Reds fans to forget talk of winning the title this season - and focus instead on simply making a meaningful challenge.
Carragher made his Premier League debut in 1997 - the last time Liverpool were in serious contention for the crown they crave more than any other.
And while every season since then has been accompanied by some kind of title clarion call, the unfailing honest Carragher declared: "People always talk about us pushing for the league, but to be honest it isn't very often that we've even challenged.
"If we were challenging with 10 or 15 games to go then who knows? But just a challenge this season would be nice, to still be in the hunt.
"I think it's only happened once since I've been in the team, when I played a few games under Roy Evans. We probably should have won the league but let it slip towards the end.
"But since then we've never even challenged so that's s something we're all looking for.
"I'd take a title medal over anything else at the moment because that would make my full set, but I just want to be competitive in the league."
A six point swing last season in the high profile showdowns with Manchester United would have painted a very different title picture, but Carragher has warned against the perils of concentrating solely on the games between the big four.
"They're big games, but it's not just about beating Manchester United or the other so-called big teams. I don't go along with that," he added. "Manchester United lost twice to Manchester City which no-one expected so who knows?"
Carragher returned to pre-season training last week - one of four senior specialist centre-backs now at the club.
But the prospect of battling with Sami Hyypia, Martin Skrtel and fit again Daniel Agger does not worry him.
"I've had a few seasons like that over the years where the competition for places has been intense," he added. "But that's what it's about at Liverpool. It's about the battle for your place and I'm prepared to fight and battle as well as anyone.
"I expected to play in the past and I expect to play again next season.
"Every day you go into training you feel as though you have to prove yourself all over again, although to be honest I don't think I'll change anything. I always work hard and I'll continue to do so."

Eric Cantona is seriously weighing up a sensational return to Manchester United.

Click here to find out more!
The Sunday Express says Cantona is believed to be seriously considering Manchester United's long-standing offer to return to Old Trafford as a coach.

And with manager Sir Alex Ferguson in danger of losing his influential No2, Carlos Queiroz - wanted by Portugal to succeed Luiz Felipe Scolari - the Frenchman's emotional return would be perfect timing.

A close friend revealed: "Eric does fancy the idea of helping out with the coaching at a club like Manchester United.

"He has been enjoying himself appearing in and directing films and being involved in beach soccer but has always wanted to help produce a team in his style and knows that Sir Alex Ferguson would encourage him."

Would be great to have Catona back at the club, but where the hell would we put him? Definately not as the Assistant Manager, cause he doesn't have either the tactical knowledge nor training knowledge for the role. Put him with the youth side and see what happens - he was a great inspiration and example to the younger players when he was at the club, maybe he could do the same for the upcoming generation - and if he does well with them he can move up the chain like Ole has done. However, would Cantona deem coaching the young players a job worthy of his artistry?

plus there is the fact that he is mad as a bottle of chips.

jazus, being mad isn't a problem - give him a top class number 2 and he could be a good manager imo - like Rijkard at Barcelona (with Ten Cate)

Cantona and Ole - the team to keep Liverpool fans disappointed for the next 20 years :D

Yes a Madman who has 4 League winners medals and 2 FA Cup winners medals one of which was won by him scoring a great goal against Liverpool in 1996 to complete his 2nd league and cup double in the space of 2 years. ;)
