Well he's hardly going to say 'ya, we're rubbish, and with our signings so far, I can see us fighting for a UEFA cup place next season'...

There's nothing wrong with a little bit of optimism in the Liverpool camp, afterall, if they themselves don't believe it, how can they have any realistic chance to achieve it?
all players in Spain though have buy out clauses? it' quite possible that this may not be the ridiculous fee they normally are especially considering how much he was in demand prior to his move.

True, but the player also has to want to leave the club.. And Aguero's buy out clause is 55 million euro's. He has already rejected Chelsea when they chose to match his buyout clause.

i don't believe this aguero will be leaving for united, he just isn't the type of player we need. I could only see us going for him on the basis he is possibly one of the best young players around, and we'll need a new 'darling' to take over from Ronnie.

I seriously doubt Aguero will leave Atletico... They let Torres leave because they knew they had a potentially better player in Aguero.. They also shelled out quite a bit of dosh for him, and as the team is now fighting for the Liga and is in the CL, I can see them holding onto their stars...

Thats not why they let Torres leave.

God forbid a United supporter having a little jest at the expense of one our main rivals who'd have thought it.

thing about aguerro is his agent said a top club put in a bid for him. If it's not chelsea can't see arsenal forking out for him and liverpool couldnt afford him... I know we got in the hole strikers and we need someone to lead the line. Doesn't mean we didnt put in a bid for him. Doesn't mean we did...

I'd be surprised if we did only settle for one signing this summer... just cause fergie said it. He said no signings last jan and he supposeably put in a bid for berbatov

Ignoring all the media etc stuff - if United did sign Aguero (if) where would he play, how would he be played, and how often?

What I'd like if of course Mr Aguerro would like to come to Old Trafford.

**** Off Ronaldo you easily influenced little boy.

    Hello Sergio...and welcome!

Well Ronaldo stayed but i must agree,i dont like him so much anymore and i dont believe him,he looks so easy to be influenced and to betray us as soon as he get chance,he can talk sh!ts how he adores United now as much as he want but he is doing that coz he know he made sh!t and lost confidence a bit with talking about Madrid. To be honest i would rather see him leaving us now

a lot of ppl have turned on him. Interesting to see if he stays and scores a lot next season, how fans percieve him.

If the aguero bid is ours it does show our ambition to continually improve the squad by trying to buy the best though. Regardless of whether we get him or not. It's not always documented (i.e. seedorf approach) and is nice to see - if ronaldo does leave.

The agent seemed positive about the interest - just in the language used etc.

Ronaldo will be at the same thing next summer and throughout the season if he's still at United after the transfer window. You would swear he was 27/28 and it was his last chance to play for Real Madrid in his prime. Ferguson got rid of Ruud for being disruptive and thats all Ronaldos going to do next season if he's still about. His career will probably go downhill like the other premiership stars who left for Europe thinking it was a step up.

I am sorry but no matter how great he play this season my opinion will reamin unchaged,if he was thinking once to leave us he will do that soon again,i am dissapointed coz he was even thinking about that and dont have confidence in him anymore, you will see this story with madrid will repeat on winter and i know Ronaldo will go till next summer for sure, and his stories about how great United is,how he didnt wanted to go and other sh!tes i am reading just pisses me more and more, get out of our butts dude!!

Along with the likelyhood of Real not having the money to afford Ronaldo heres another reason why I expect to see Ronaldo in a United jersey come October.
Cristiano Ronaldo is facing at least three months on the sidelines, according to the Portuguese national team physiotherapist.

The Manchester United wide man has endured a difficult summer as he has found himself in the centre of a transfer tug-of-war with Spanish suitors Real Madrid and his Old Trafford employers.

Ronaldo underwent surgery on his right ankle last Monday and now Portugal physiotherapist Antonio Gaspar has now confirmed the playmaker will not return to action before October.

"We are going to use everything that is possible to us and that will help him recover as quickly as possible," Gaspar told Spanish sports daily AS.

"But Cristiano Ronaldo will not be in an optimum state for the competition until 12 weeks are up.
    Lengthy lay-off

"He is working very well and he is optimistic.

"These first four weeks he will do the rehabilitation work in my clinic. After the first month, the Manchester United doctors will carry out another exam."

Gaspar added: "I want it to be made very clear that I am only involved with Ronaldo's recuperation and that I am in permanent contact with the medical department at Manchester United, with the Dutchman Niek van Dijk [the specialist who performed the operation] and with [Portugal team doctor] Henrique Jones.

"Any other information or the medical aspect about his injury are only and exclusively the concerns of Manchester United."

Well, a good few United stories in the press this morning - here are the main ones from Tribal Football.

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=102352
Manchester United will step up negotiations today over a deal for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The Daily Mail says United chief executive David Gill returns from holiday today to take charge of the champions' attempts to persuade Spurs to sell their Bulgaria striker.

United have already had a £20million bid rejected but boss Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to sign Berbatov, knowing the player is desperate to complete his dream move to Old Trafford.

Ferguson is also aware that neighbours Manchester City had a bid of £32m for Berbatov rejected in May.

However, the United manager is confident that, given the striker's burning desire for a return to Champions League football, an offer of around £25m will persuade Spurs to do business, with the fee possibly rising to £30m with performance related add-ons.

Ferguson will now leave the haggling to Gill while he takes charge of United's pre-season trip to South Africa on Wednesday.

I'm not convinced Berbatov is the player we should be going for, but if he is the identified number 1 target, then I hope we can get the deal done this week so that Berbatov can join up with the squad for the South African trip.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/07/14/exclusive-manchester-united-set-25m-limit-for-dimitar-berbatov-89520-20643099/
Manchester United have put a £25million limit on their pursuit of Dimitar Berbatov and told Spurs they can take it or leave it.

Berbatov will demand to be allowed to complete a dream move to Old Trafford after United's initial offer of £20m was rejected by the Tottenham board over the weekend.

As revealed by Mirror Sport on July 1, Sir Alex Ferguson revived interest in Berbatov after failing to persuade Spurs to part with the 27-year-old striker last summer and again in January's transfer window.

Berbatov's agent Emil Danchev said: "Manchester United have expressed an interest in Berbatov. I cannot comment on the issue further."

Spurs want £30m for the elegant Bulgarian forward but United are refusing to pay such a high price for a player of Berbatov's age.

United chief executive David Gill has told Spurs they are willing to pay £18m up front, with the rest payable on completion of success-related clauses built into the deal.

Similar deals were struck by United with Everton for Wayne Rooney and Tottenham for Michael Carrick, and the Old Trafford board are keen to do the same with Berbatov, who has been Fergie's No.1 target for the past year.

United, who embark on Thursday for a three-game tour of South Africa, are expected to submit their revised offer for the former Bayer Leverkusen ace within 48 hours and inform Spurs it is their final one.

Despite the £30 m valuation, there is a feeling at White Hart Lane that they would be foolish to turn down £25m for their star player, in the process doubling their money on him.

18million plus success based bonuses would actually be a pretty good deal, would be surprising if we got it done for that though.

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=102348
Tottenham are keen to offload Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United - because he's bringing everyone down!

A source inside the club revealed to The People: "Berba is the moodiest bloke at the club. He is walking round with a miserable look on his face and clearly doesn't want to be here."

Not exactly what i want to be reading, really, though it is pretty well known. This United side seem to have a great team spirit, and seem to get on very well. I would hope Berbatov would cop on to himself if we did sign him, cause we don't need a moody bugger dampening the team spirit.

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=102353
Manchester United are ready to tackle FIFA president Sepp Blatter head on.

The Daily Mail says United will write to Blatter this week after he waded into the furore over Cristiano Ronaldo's future.

He described United's stance over Real Madrid's pursuit as 'modern slavery' and the player subsequently agreed with Blatter's comments, which prompted United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to cancel a clear-the-air meeting with his Portugal winger in Lisbon today.

Click here to find out more!
United will cite the apparent double standards Blatter has expressed. In February of this year, the FIFA president backed the sanctity of players' contracts with clubs after the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced Andy Webster's fine from £625,000 to £150,000 for ripping up his deal with Hearts to move to Wigan.

"The decision which CAS took is very damaging for football and is a pyrrhic victory for those players and their agents who toy with the idea of rescinding contracts before they have been fulfilled," Blatter said at the time.

But, discussing Ronaldo last week, he said: "I'm always in favour of protecting the player and if the player wants to leave, let him leave."

United could be forgiven for thinking Blatter's sympathy for Ronaldo has something to do with his soft spot for Real, who made him an honorary member in November 2006 and presented him with a gold and diamond club insignia.

Real president Ramon Calderon revealed Blatter was a fan in his teens and, in a gushing response, the FIFA president said: "Allow me to again relay my sincere gratitude for the warm welcome, the incomparable hospitality, and the honourable distinction."

Eh, well, GO ******* GET HIM!

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=102350
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing Tottenham coach Gus Poyet as his new No2.

Click here to find out more!
The People says Fergie's interest in Poyet will be met with fierce resistance from Tottenham who see him as a key figure in Ramos' regime.

But if Ferguson offers the Uruguayan the chance to play a major role in United's defence of the Premier League and Champions League, he will be faced with the toughest decision of his career.

Poyet is well liked and respected in the game and Ferguson has been impressed with the way he's conducted himself since retiring as a player in 2004.
Poyet for number 2? Would certainly be one out of left field, must have been making a name for himself at Spurs and Leeds.

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=102323
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to go outside the club for his new No2.

Click here to find out more!
The People says although current No.3 Mike Phelan has sound credentials to step up as Fergie's right-hand man, the United chief has told close friends he needs an assistant with European experience.

He's not ruled out Phelan, academy director Brian McClair or skills coach Rene Mulensteen if he decides to promote from within.

Ex-Liverpool coach Pako Ayesteran, who left Anfield last season after a bust-up with Rafa Benitez, has been mentioned as have Bordeaux boss and former United star Laurent Blanc and ex-Chelsea No.2 Steve Clarke

    http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=102324
New Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz admits it was a difficult decision to quit Manchester United.

He told the People: "The decision to leave has not been at all easy.

Click here to find out more!
"These five years in this club have marked me but to return to Portugal to lead a new project with the national team is something impossible to turn down. United have understood my decision although at the start they wanted to convince me to stay.

"When I spoke to the directors and with Alex Ferguson they saw that my mind was made up and they accepted my decision."

And Queiroz feels anyone would pay to have his job on the bench at Old Trafford alongside Ferguson.

He added: "At United I have grown professionally beyond my expectations. I think that it is the best club in the world and I am convinced many coaches would almost pay to hold a post on the coaching team.

"I would have liked to be United's manager but football has so many twists and turns no-one knows what will happen."

Question for the United fans - how much would ye take for Ronaldo?

You've got three seasons left with him now. Assuming he doesn't sign another extension, he'll have to be sold in 2011 at the latest or else he'll go on a free.
I'd say he'll be long gone before then though if he's already pushing for a move.

You might get one or two years out of him at most.

How much do you think he'd be worth in two years time?

Do you think that 60 million for a want away player is a pretty good bit of business?

    Depends on webster.
If he can stay for defo for 4 years, personally I'd keep him for 4 years and let him leave on a free. If he can use webster in 2 years time, we'll have to look at selling him next summer.

    ---

One thing that does irk me is that both the Berbatov and the Aguero stories came from their agents, while I'd like to keep everyone on the down low until a deal is done, avoiding the chance of Chelsea swooping in

    http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/manchester_united/s/1058058_rio_set_to_escape_fa_rap
RIO Ferdinand seems certain to escape any formal sanction over his part in last season's 'Battle of Stamford Bridge'.

Reports have emerged of a possible four-match ban for the Manchester United defender - which could rule him out of England's friendly with the Czech Republic on August 20 and scupper his chances of being appointed as Fabio Capello's new captain.

Given Ferdinand has already suffered the misery of serving an eight-month ban for a missed drugs test in 2004, it would be the worst kind of news possible for the 29-year-old Londoner and somewhat bizarre given it was United's complaints about the treatment of their players that led to the inquiry in the first place.

Ferdinand apologised after accidentally kicking a female steward in frustration following his side's defeat.

However, sources close to the investigation into events that took place at Chelsea immediately after the key showdown, which finished in acrimony as the home side won thanks to a hotly disputed late penalty, have been left bemused by the speculation surrounding Ferdinand.

For, while the official report is still being compiled, there has been no suggestion Ferdinand will face any penalty, let alone miss the opening four matches of the season.

And, although such a move would be bad news for United, who are already without Cristiano Ronaldo for an extended period following the winger's recent ankle operation, even in the unlikely event of Ferdinand being punished, it would not affect his availability for England.

It has been pointed out that Alan Smith, Lee Bowyer, Jonathan Woodgate and Ferdinand's major rival for the captaincy, John Terry, have been deliberately overlooked for selection by England in recent times.

However, in those instances, it was a policy decision taken by the FA until police or court action against the individuals concerned had been concluded.

Similarly, there is no link with Ferdinand's own lengthy ban because it covered all football, both for club and country.

It means that whatever the outcome of the FA's investigation Ferdinand will be available for the Czech Republic game, before which Capello intends to name his new skipper, having tried out four men for the post.

The FA meanwhile are continuing their own investigations into the Stamford Bridge clash, although as yet, no timescale for a definitive decision has been reached.

Would be delighted for Rio if he gets the captaincy; hopefully this incident at Chelsea doesn't scupper his chances. From what I read at the time it was an accident and he appologies immediately.

    http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/manchester_united/s/1058059_reds_linked_with_atletico_ace
MANCHESTER United have been linked with a bid for Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero.

At just 20 years old, 'El Kun' is already one of Europe's hottest properties, with Atletico having to fight to keep hold of their Argentinian star last summer after he won the Golden Boot and player of the tournament awards at the Under-20 World Cup in Canada.

His stock rose further last season as he netted 20 goals in 37 Primera Liga games while picking up Spain's player of the year award in just his second 12 months on the continent.

Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has repeatedly denied ever having received a bid for the striker, but with plenty of interest in the young star reported in January, the capital club felt moved to increase Aguero's buy-out clause to 55million euros.

However, according to the player's representative, Jose Segui, even that huge sum will not be enough to put off one of the English Premier League's top sides.

And while he stopped short of naming names, Segui insisted the interested party was not Chelsea.

"I've received an offer from a big English club and they've asked me to pass that offer on to Atletico Madrid," Segui told Spanish newspaper AS.

"I can't say anything more until I've spoken to the club about this definite offer.

"I can only say that it's one of the best clubs in Europe and it's not Chelsea."

The belief in Spain is that United are the club in question, as they are seen by the Spanish media as the only club other than Chelsea capable of affording the player.

However, they may face a challenge luring the player to England's North West, as 'El Kun' has repeatedly stated that he is happy with his life in Madrid.

Some more on the Aguero links - don't believe we are in for him, but maybe we have made an approach, or made interest known to let Spurs know that our final bid for Berbatov will indeed be our final bid (as reported elsewhere and posted further up)

As a serious reply - for the formation we play, and the seniority of the players involved is important. i'd say 3 senior, a backup senior and a couple of youngsters is the right mix

You'd have a senior trio or Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov. Manucho as the 4th choice with Campbel and (more likely imo) Welbeck joining the squad on occasion.

I don't see us getting two strikers, unless one is a forward/winger and a replacement for Ronaldo, so I don't see us getting Aguero and hopefully we'll not being seeing Saha play for us this season (becaues he is somewhere else and NOT because he is on the treatment table at Carrington

    Tevez/Rooney = First choice.
    Manucho = Not legal yet.
Saha = Injury prone hopefully will be sold.
Campbell = More than likely will go back out on loan.
Welbeck = More than likely out on loan
    Berbatov = Nothing but rumors
    Ageuro = Nothing but rumors.
    Dong = :(

We definitely don't have two many strikers yet. I think though if we do get a striker we will only be getting one, and hopefully Manuchos work permit sorted. With the 7 subs rule we easily have room on the bench for two forwards. So if we had (Rooney/Tevez/new guy) pick two from three with one on the bench, I'd would be happy to have Manucho/Wellbeck or Campbell on the bench as the second striker and see what they can do)

i think its highly unlikely that we'd sign both Berb AND aguerro (though if Ronaldo leaves, please God, then with those 2 along with Rooney/Tevez and Manucho (possibly - SAF did indicate before that he would be eaased intot he team) we would have a solid 4-4-2 to revert back to, we'd still need a new winger mind.

Do we want a solid 4-4-2...?

Last season's 4-3-3/4-5-1 is the formation most big teams seem to be using these days, and for good reason.

    One eye on the future

Club captain Gary Neville has revealed that he is already contemplating a life in coaching - but admits that it pales in comparison to actually playing.

The 33-year-old lined up in the Reds' pre-season opener at Aberdeen on Saturday and, although he is relishing being back in action after his lengthy injury layoff, a future on the other side of the touchline is already in the back of his mind.

"I have done my coaching badges in the summer - along with Ryan Giggs and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer,
" Neville told the Daily Star. "But although the two weeks were good fun and hard work, it doesn't replace actually playing.

"What it did do was make me think about the fact I hadn't played for more than 12 months and that I've got to make the most of the next season and play for as long as I possibly can."

The Reds' skipper has a year remaining on his contract and, regardless of what the future holds, he is intent on making the most of the coming season in order to prolong his playing career at Old Trafford.

"I'm into the last year of my contract, so I've got to do my best and try to maintain my existence at United because this is the only club I want to play football for," he said.

"It's difficult as regards the future because at the age of 33 or 34 you have to start thinking about what you are going to do once you stop.

"At that age you feel like you are about to fall off a cliff because there's nothing you can do to replicate the last 15 years. You have to try to find something. Hopefully I can keep that at bay for two years."

Good to hear he got his badges :) Does anyone know if Scholes got his? I guess if it only takes 2 weeks it aint a big deal to do them -- and Scholesy has more time left in him than the others I think. Still, it'd be good to see he has intentions of going into coaching.

    Good old Fergie:

Glad to see he is looking to the future(Berba), and not the past (Ronaldo)

Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly cancelled plans to fly to Lisbon for peace talks with Cristiano Ronaldo in order to focus his attention on the task of buying Dimi Berbatov from Tottenham.

A week after returning to work following a one month holiday in the south of France, Ferguson was due to travel to Portugal for his first meeting with Ronaldo since a party at Old Trafford on May 22 to commemorate their Champions League triumph. It is thought that Ronaldo and Ferguson have not spoken, even on the telephone, since then, and the Manchester United manager has stubbornly refused to acknowledge Ronaldo's apparent desire to leave the club for Real Madrid.

However, according to The Times, Ferguson was 'ready to spring into action by flying to Portugal this morning to try to end the unedifying stand-off, but that trip has been cancelled, seemingly because the United manager has other priorities'.

That includes recruiting Berbatov, with United set to table a second and improved bid for the Bulgarian after Spurs rejected their opening offer of £20m on Friday. Berbatov, who is currently in Spain at Tottenham's pre-season training base, has made no secret of his wish to move to Old Trafford.

Yet the disclosure that Ferguson has cancelled plans to visit Ronaldo - The Times are unsure whether a meeting was scheduled or if the Scot was simply intent on arriving unannounced - is bound to be interpreted as evidence that he is now resigned to losing the Portuguese forward this summer.

'Visiting Ronaldo would have been a significant gesture from Ferguson - an act that was encouraged by Carlos Queiroz, who left his role as United assistant manager on Friday to take charge of Portugal,' reports The Times.

'Two summers ago, when Ronaldo was again making eyes at Real while fearing the fallout from his involvement in Wayne Rooney's red card for England against Portugal in the World Cup quarter-final, Ferguson succeeded in persuading him to return to Old Trafford, but there will be no such meeting this time unless the Scot can somehow find time to fly to Lisbon tomorrow before departing for South Africa the following day for the start of United's preseason tour.'

Atletico were willing to let their captain and most popular player leave because they knew they had a player who has the potential to be better. He hasn't outshined Torres this season, but he has equalled Torres' best return in La Liga in just his 2nd season. In my mind he was the best player in La Liga last season, and is definitely in the top 3 up and coming players in world football...

    Here are his goals from last season;

    Some of his honours, be aware he is only 20;
    Personal Honours:
Golden Ball: FIFA U-20 World Cup: 2007
Golden Boot: FIFA U-20 World Cup: 2007
    Tuttosport Golden Boy: 2007 [6] [7]
FIFA's Young Player of the Year: 2007
Antonio Puerta Award - La Liga Player of the Year : 2007-2008

Manchester United agree £28 million Dimitar Berbatov fee as Spurs close on David Bentley

Manchester United have agreed to pay Tottenham £28 million for Dimitar Bebatov, who have set aside £17 million of that fee to sign Blackburn's David Bentley in a move that could spark a transfer domino effect.

Dimitar Berbatov - Manchester United agree £28 million Dimitar Berbatov fee as Tottenham close on David Bentley
Heading north: Dimitar Berbatov is on his way to Manchester United

Tottenham had been warned by United that they would be not be held to ransom in their pursuit to sign Berbatov, after they had an initial £20 million approach rebuffed over the weekend, setting a maximum limit of £25 million on the Bulgarian striker.

But reports suggest that both clubs have since reached a comprise for £2 million less than the original £30 million asking price Spurs had demanded for the player, who has scored 27 goals in the Premier League since his arrival from German side Bayer Leverkusen two years ago.

United want to pay Tottenham a fee of £18 million up front with the rest of the transfer payable after success-related clauses and appearances, similar to the arrangement they struck with the north London club for Michael Carrick in 2006.

Berbatov, 27, has made no secret of his desire to move to the champions in past and his agent Emil Danchev confirmed: "Manchester United have expressed interest in Berbatov but I cannot comment on the issue further."

Although the north London club publicly announced that Berbatov is not for sale, it is understood that manager Juande Ramos had being planning the forthcoming campaign without the forward since the end of last season.

In his place, Spurs have a number of options they are exploring. Russia's Andrei Arshavin and Espanyol's Luis Garcia have been mentioned while Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz is a possibility at £10 million.

Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o, deemed surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp, is thought to be Ramos' first choice replacement.

One Blackburn Rovers player almost certainly on his way to White Hart Lane though, is David Bentley - identified by Ramos earlier in the summer as one of his primary transfer targets.

The Spaniard aims to complete a deal for the unsettled England international by including goalkeeper Paul Robinson as a makeweight.

Robinson's exchange to Ewood Park would see him replace Brad Friedel who would be granted permission to seal a move to Aston Villa with the midlands club poised to sign the American goalkeeper for £2.5 million.

Friedel's pending arrival at Villa Park would end manager Martin O'Neill's lingering interest in Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson, who spent last season on loan at the club but priced out of an immediate return with his £10 million valuation.

Newly-promoted Stoke City have reportedly lodged a £4 million offer for Carson's services but could yet face competition from Middlesbrough.

Bentley, 23, has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Liverpool, since his admission that he wanted to leave Blackburn following former manager Mark Hughes departure to Manchester City last month.

Although new boss Paul Ince is desperate to retain Bentley on his books he is, however, resigned to losing the former Arsenal player with Liverpool's £6 million rated Jermaine Pennant earmarked as a direct replacement.

Bentley, capped six times by his country, has remained resolute on his wish to leave the club in favour of a return to London in a move to enhance his England credentials under national coach Fabio Capello and it is seemingly likely Tottenham will soon formally announce his arrival.

Interesting and what gives it more credibility is that it is coming from the Telegraph rather than any of the tabloids.

it's reported on a number of sites... Guess it doesn't :)

I agree, very expensive. I'd of like to have got him for 22-23million. 28 million for a 27 year old....not sure about that.
Delighted we've signed him though, an excellent player. Just hope he stops being a moody f*cker now!

    Saha OUT!

Berbatov has a shoddy attitude. Personally I am not overly enthusiastic at the propsect of him joining the squad..

I think you're jumping the gun there, but the story has gathered serious momentum.

Maybe. Consider £18m is upfront and the rest is success/appearance related. The gamble with Berbatov is how good he can be for us. I think £18m is a decent price, and if the rest is based on goals and trophies, it's a price I'd be happy enough with.

Aye, let's hope the positive atmosphere from last season carries over tbh! Quieroz gone will be disappointing for all the Portugese and Brazilian lads. Ronaldo either going or staying but being unhappy about it. And the new introduction is a moody c*nt too!

    I'm sure it'll be grand :)

to be fair i dont know how premature that story is. There is nothing posted on the major sites yet. Doesnt mean he's gone for 28 mill... doesnt mean he's gone to us yet even. The reports prob will vary from 25-30 if it does happen anyway.

Yup I think there is some element of truth to the stories that we've made a bid for him as the paper have being continuously reporting this for the past number of days rather than dropping it after a day or so like they normally do with transfer rumours.
