    Hi

I'm wondering has anyone got experience of extending a hipped and trussed roof into a gable end roof in order to allow for a good attic conversion. Any idea howmuch this costs approx? I know planning permission would be needed for this:confused:

Youll need roof timbers, slates/tiles, membranes, battens, insulation, blockwork, plasterboard and then labour. Where you are, size of roof, finish required and who does it will be major contributing factors. If you are looking for an accurate price go to a QS, architect, engineer etc. If you just want to know how much it will cost you ballpark ask a builder around to have a look.

PS: if planning permission is obtained and the house is old some LAs will insist that the additional slates/tiles on the front be taken from the rear (to match weathering) and the new ones put on the rear, its just something to keep in mind as its an additional cost.

well u cud reuse some of the old rafters and some of the battens and most of the tiles that should help keep things down
