VAT on Farm Building

Hi. I will be building a small slatted unit beginning next few months. I have heard that vat can be reclaimed on farm buildings even if not vat registered. What is the vat reclaimable on (labour, digger work, steel, etc)? Any advice appreciated.

21% on some , 13.5% on others , surely someone who is a farmer would already know that , have you never had work done before , i.e , fencing , drainage work , building work of any kind

I am relatively new to farming, well, the paper work and accounts part anyway. Both my parents died a few years back and I have not built anything yet. Have not done much fencing either. I have got a quote from a builder for labour. I would feel a bit silly asking him if I can reclaim the vat. So if I have this right, I can reclaim the vat on the labour, slats, concrete, steel, shed, etc. Thanks for the help

presumably you have an acount or an ag advisor who would be able to help. You will need VAT invoices to be able to reclaim. Therefore, a 'cash' job is of no use to you.
