Boggles, you would argue about the colour of ****e.

End of story-Voronin is good enough to be Liverpool 4th choice striker.

I'm sure Reina can play up front. That doesn't mean he would be any good, Babel is a winger, just because he has played in a different position doesn't mean he is good in that position.

Babel is a striker. Or more accurately, he has always played on the left of a 3 up front. A more attacking role than he played for us last season, with less defensive duties. He has said himself he eventually wants to be a striker and that's were many see his future.

errr Voronin is a striker and Bentley is a winger. Voronin is practically useless against decent opposition. Ive no problem with him, hes fine for 4th choice as Ive said. My problem is that he is played far too often.

Over half of Voronins caps were him on either the right or left wing.

    Simple.

And for a player who cost us nothing, and has wages of around £30,000 a week, he's a damn sight better than spending £15,000,000 on Bently and giving him wages of £60,000 a week.

    Voronin is not a striker.

If people here would bother doing their research, they'd know that he played most of his games in Germany and for the Ukraine as a central attacking midfield player.

And for us, he usualy plays wide.

No he can't. He doesn't have enough pace like Torres, nor can he hold up the ball as well as Crouch.

    so say you,

    i disagree

Grand, anything happens Torres thou he could be 1st choice, that is not a comfortable thought.

Babel is a forward, his own preference is to play thro the middle, the managers to play him on the left

anything happen torres then either crouch (or if he is sold, his replacement) or kuyt will play up front.

i suppose if rooney gets injured dong will be made united captain will he

No, he's 4th choice, there would still be 2nd and 3rd choice strikers to get a game ahead of him, so Voronin would only be the new 3rd choice striker, not 1st choice.

On the Torres or Crouch remark?
And if he doesn't have those attributes, what makes him good enough to lead the line for a title challenging club.
In my opinion he definitely needs a partner up there. Without Torres, and assuming nobody else signs, Babel and Kuyt would be my preferred lineup

Boggles, I think this is the last time I'm gonna reply to you. Over the last few pages your posts are littered with inaccuracies. Every time I have corrected you, you have not replied to my post, so whats the point?

Babel played as a striker, on the left of a 4-3-3 for Ajax. He has played as a striker many times for Liverpool the Dutch national side as well as the under 21s. The player himself has said that he considers himself a striker.

    Babel----x
    x

    x

    x----x

    Rafa on the subject -
He prefers to play as a striker but we have four very good strikers. Ryan is Dutch and like Bergkamp and Van Persie he will need one or two years to settle down. He will need time and we have time to support him. In the future he could be a striker, but at the moment we need him to play on the left side.

    & again
“Ryan is a good player. He prefers to play in the middle, but he knows he must play wide on the right or left for the good of the team.”

1 or 2 players injured is hardly a plague! Anyway corrections have been made, it turns out he is a central midfielder. :D

    examples of what?

Kuyt is a centre forward with a great goal scoring record over his career, of course he can lead the line, what do you want, me to point out a particular game where he lead the line

why bother you'll just ignore it :pac:

Someone did it for me, it was a couple of pages back.
He came on up front as a sub against Besiktas and scored twice and hit the post!
He came on up front against Marsailles and scored!
He came on up front against Arsenal and won us a penalty and scored!
He came on up front against Chelsea, and scored!

He has also started as a striker a few times.

Sorry, I seemed to have missed your point?!

Andry Voronin plays in a numbr of different positions.
The only club where he ever played constantly as an out and out striker, was Mainz.

For all other clubs, he usualy played as either a support striker, or as an attacking midfield player, playing in the hole.
    Like Gerrard now.

He also occasionally played wide midfield.
No more so that in the national side, where he played as an out and out winger, never mind a wing forward, like at Liverpool.

He has played very few games for Liverpool in a striker position.
Most of his sub appearances were coming on for either Torres or Kuyt, and playing form the right. (with Kuyt moving in if ot was Torres replaced).

His ideal position is the Gerrard role, cause his main strength is his link up play.
He is an amazing short passer of the ball, and he creates chances from nowhere.

I've seen him play dozens of times in Germany, where he was rated as being better than Berbatv, and was effectively bought to replace him!

But if you want to consider him as a striker, then you do that.
    You'd better tell Rafa though.
    Rafa wrote:
"He is clever, has great game awareness and gives us so many more options in attack. He can play behind a main striker, lead the line himself, or come into the attack from the flanks."

    Oh but it does.

Just after finding it for myself.

Lets have a look at All the games "The Crow" played in our lovely 4-5-1 formation.

He played in the last 6 games (either as a sub or from the start).
5 in central attacking midfield, one up front.

    Do the maths!!!

Listen mate, you rate him as good as berbatov, I disagree. Fair enough.

But just going by that site he has played the majority of his career up front, his Mainz career isn't there but you have already said he played exclusely up front for them.

    http://www.football-lineups.com/footballer/641/

Either way I don't rate him, he is 29 and I suggest he isn't going to get much better.

We will just have to do that old cliche and agree to disagree

why is this even a debate, he's 4 choice, and he's perfectly good enough for that role.

I think we should charge boggles a few euros for the amount of entertainment he gets from rising the liverpool fans.
And if we back date it we should be able to get a shiney new striker :-)

Never said I rated him as better than Berb.
    I said that Leverkussen did.
And the German media at the time.
    I don't.
    Cause he's not.

All I'm saying, to you, and amost everyone else here, is that he's a lot better than everyone makes him out to be, and that I think he'll have a good (not great) season next year.
