    Microlighting in Ireland can be very cheap, I have an X-Air with the 582 2 Stroke engine which I bought in Scotland burns 16Litres of Mogas per hour. I can maintain this myself (which I dont currently do) but services are cheaper than a car service anyway. X-airs can be had for less than €15k . Mine is hangared in Birr which is reasonable too.

    If your willing to do the maintenance yourself flying for €35p/h is achievable depending on how many hours you do per year.

    Group A planes Cessna's and the like are costlier to run as they are much more tightly regulated with C of A's ect..
