I was there in 2002 . We paid about 2000dollars a month for a large 2 bed in a complex with all leisre facilities near Ocean Beach. Deposit was 2000 I think. Try and rent in Mission Beach/Bay or Pacific Beach and several streets back from beach to minimise rent(you pay a lot more obviously the closer you are to seafront). Work should be available at Paradise Point or Seaworld. Don't now what the rent is like this year but stronger euro versus dollar will help, when we were there it was only 90us cents for every euro, now it's 160!!! The Irish students have gotten a bad reputation down there with landlords and police for being drunk and leaving property in bad state etc. You should get somewhere but probably have to give large deposit and put your names down on credit rating guarantee things.
Try this site for rentals, the place we stayed was "mariners cove".

We paid two months in advance I think and stayed for around 4 months.

Check out the local free newspaper/magazine at most stores. It has jobs, rentals etc and is probably online too .

Search in classifieds, looks like a 3 bed in Pacific beach will cost 2,700dollars a month.

    Also try
