Good news, Comreg have no control over in air mobile tariffs.

    Comreg will not regulate the cost of in flight calls from mobiles, in other words the airline company/ service provider can and probably will charge you what ever high tariffs they want.     Why not charge US$10 per minute as is charged for sat phones on aircraft at the moment. As a result Sat phones are very rarely used.

    Mobiles are much more convenient, personal and tempting to use than sat phones, ie they can receive incoming calls. This still would not deter those in the legal profession, doctors and some accountants that are probably earning that much a minute from using them. Airlines could also make a killing by charging a premium commission for a universal RTG top up card that can be used with any international service provider. Incoming calls will also be heavily charged as they have been doing in the States for years.
