Alright article, but there are a few things you've missed or left out on purpose.
The "game-less game boys" is a marketing thing, basically it amounts to product placement, a gameboy on it's own is fine, it's just a machine and it's nearly always shown from the back (with the nintendo logo obscured) so it could be anything. If you have a game in the backslot then it's showing that game to the world. Even if you remove the logo from the cart the old style gameboys still have the words "NINTENDO" moulded into the cartridge.
My understanding is to reduce legal trouble, it's easier to just have no games in them.

As for the rest of the stuff as people pointed out in the last thread, the people making Tv shows are making Tv shows. You mentioned in your article something about "if you want to show people playing baseball, don't have them holding tennis racquets" which is fine, but the people making the shows usually aren't saying "lets have them play Halo3 because they like terrible things" (Sorry, but any chance to kick halo), they're saying "they're playing a video game". So the standard pick and mix strategy of sounds and random screens do the job just fine. I'm sure there are baseball and tennis fans who give out when the on-screen character serves arseways or they don't follow the rules properly, but who cares?
for 99% of the population they do they job fine. they see "Dr house is playing a videogame instead of treating his patients" as opposed to "shifting into morph-ball mode isn't game over, those BASTARDS!"

Speaking of which, time for more house.
