Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Prodigy - New Tunes

Liking the return to the old sound here. There is a sample from Rhythm of Life, the b side of the One Love EP on the Warrior Dance tune. Its the sort of Indian whooping sound.

Hopefully the new album is along these lines, rather than Always Outnumbered...

This **** sounds a lot better then the AONO in my opinion!! Delighted to hear this new material and cant wait till there over next :)

I listened to AONO probably two or three times before finding a corner for it somewhere. This sounds so much better... although live always sounds nice and energetic, will an album sound as good?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17 Trab

I did the same with AONO but came back to it a while later. There are a few decent tracks on there, Action Radar and Medusas Path to name two.

By and large, its not up to their usual standard. These new tunes have me filled with optimism again though:)

Yeah I should probably give it another shot at some stage... too many other albums to get through at the moment though, it really is a great time right now for new music and reissues etc... the most exciting in years actually! Now I just need some extra cash :pac:

This does sound good alright, had a couple of listens now and really diggin' it :)

Really need to know the female vocal sample though on Warriors Dance, I'm thinking something on the Fresh Fruit label (around '92 or so) but not sure?

Despite being an avid old skooler i think it's rubbish, probably in the minority here but im not into it at all, in fact i lost interest in the Prodigy after their second album.

Prodigy back on form once again.Does Kieth flint still sing on the new stuff or is he back dancing again!!
Liking this, last album was way off form,I hate when bands start to feature this vocalist and that vocalist, but I guess it makes their sound more open to new fans.

This new materiel is for the die hard fans that stuck with them since 1990!!:)

you can hardly blame old skoolers who didn't stick by them after Howlett came out and started to slag old skool the scene that made them, there's nothing worse than dj's/bands from the old skool who then come out and slate the scene,i never heard Carl Cox,etc do that, and now here they are sampling well known old skool tunes because there has been another resurgent of old skool of sorts, shocking.

I'd absolutely love to see the real kings of Dance Music Orbital make a return though, they really are the ultimate Dance Music band without any doubt.

They definitely were the ultimate dance music band and wouldn't dispute that for a second, but only to a point IMO. I lost interest after Insides... the last three albums just didn't do it for me but maybe I should give them a blast again. Up to Snivilisation were absolutely amazing albums, Insides was an amazing album but I just felt they lost the spark after that.

I wasn't at all impressed by Paul Hartnoll's solo effort last year...

But Orbital will always be special to me, especially for the Brown album :)

Felix, did you go see Orbital and Carl Cox on the same nite in the Point in 1995 i think it was, one of the best Raves ever amazing nite, then Goldie and Metalheadz on the Sunday another amazing nite, one of the best weekends ive ever had (one of the messiest as well:o:pac::D )

Did I wha' :D Definitely one of the best nights I have ever had. Will never forget when they did the Halcyon mash-up with Belinda Carlisle and Bon Jovi - Heaven is a Place on Earth / Shot Through The Heart! :D

Carl Cox was brilliant that night too.

    Didn't get to Goldie though

Sorry but i am with Johnny here, muck, first two albms were good but after that the rest were rubish, as for Howlett being talented - a talented samplist maybe, he uses bugger all original sounds!

What kind of ridiculous statement is that to be making on a dance music forum, in all fairness.

eh no i clearly do, fat of the land is regarded as keiths effort at drum and bass,

'Hard-core hip-hop-derived breakbeats' also knowan as drum and bass

The Fat of the Land bears closer resemblance to both rap and punk than the hedonism of techno. Leader Liam Howett simply gives up 10 solid songs with bombastic production values, transforming dance music into the art of noise.

dont piss me off when it comes to the prodigy. seriously.

you probably read up on it on wiki

    Genre Electronic
    Big beat
    Breakbeat
    Techno
    Industrial

well done sunshine now go away

You are an absolute clown !

Two conflicting statements, you haven't a clue !

Anyone who thinks Fat of the land is the prodigy at their best obviously only started listening to them around '95/'96 when it all started to go wrong !

I think it's you who should be checking your genres out on wikipedia chief !

no not really both rap and punk have heavy beats in them well not so much punk but the punk is just taking the fact that its heavy music

yeah i started listening to keith about then, and no everything he's done has been good AONNOG is a diff story but he did that alone which he clearly made a mistake doing, altho it could have been a better album ive heard alot of good remixes of tracks from that album. experoence is kinda hit or miss depends what your into, its a very unrefined sound. music for the jilted he nailed it and same with fat of the land (by far my fav, its a much more refined sound and his best album yet, also the mix set dirtchambers is ****ing fantastic)
