Mods feel free to move this to Motors but there are a lot of full licensed drivers posting here also,

I think it would be interesting to see the stats for when people passed their test, straight from the horses' mouths. :)

The poll is private so no one need know if you took 8 attempts to pass!!!

    I was driving 6 months, I am 22
    Passed first time yesterday
Had 20 lessons- 11 over November/December and then another 9 over April/May as I had been called for my test then. (Only needed 3 or 4 but kept getting more so I would not fall back into bad habits before the test). I had been practicing every day in the meantime between December and now.

You have done very well Nightwish, I have seen some of your threads on here, congrats!!!!

Yeah my first instructor (who taught me the basics) was the same. "So are you driving to work yet???" when I was still stalling the car at every set of lights!!!

When I arrived in Finglas for my 1st E+C (artic) lesson I didn't really expect to be driving much. I climbed into the truck with the instructor expecting to get a bit of a tutorial but it was "right, away you go - we're going to Dublin Port". In at the deep end! :D

Was about 3 months into my 2nd provisional aged 29.

Failed the 1st test after about 1 year driving and 12 lessons. Actually felt like the tester had taken a
personal dislike to me because it was marked that badly. Put it down to test day nerves.

Did 2-3 more lessons the week of the 2nd test. Only got 1 grade 2 mark on the test. Was delighted with the result.

If you can read this, you're too close!

pretty sure there was a thread like this not to long ago, might be worth doing a quick search

not exactly the same question but in this thread most people give how many times it took them to pass in their replies.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,157 ✭✭✭✭Alanstrainor
