A question about the best way to do scart pass throughs for multiple satellite/dvd/video boxes

[edit - looks like it was RBG on the FTA box , setting it to CVBS seems to have sorted out the mixing of the images - Box on Av2 is set to CVBS]

The setup is something like this

    Black Diamond TV - AV1
    scart
    Digibox
    scart
    FTA box
    scart
    analog box (eurosport)

When it works the boxes lower down override the box above , but it don't always work out that way, any tips for stability ?
some times the wrong box takes control :(

Over on AV2 there is another FTA box and the picture gets mixed on that if the FTA box is on (or sometimes the analog box ) :(
the mixed is like an over lay - it's darker and wraps around horizontally , you get the sound and teletext (!) from AV2 and video mostly from AV1

Weird thing is it also happens on AV3
except on AV3 the video signal from AV2 scrolls to the left while on AV2 it scrolls to the right. If video signal from Av1 is bright then the frame doesnt' scroll sideways

Have tried changing the AV2 output settings on the TV, and choosing RGB vs. CVBS

Do I have to start cutting pins in the scart cable , wasn't there something about pin 8 or 20 ?

There is a DVD and a Video to be hooked up too
DVD is on AV3 co-ax connectors

Get a true all wires switched SCART switch box. Not one that parallels the RGB and/or WSS /RGB signalling wires.

Did you not notice how much worse CVBS (composite) looks compared to RGB? Composite is a lot blurrier (especially red colours), and you'll get a rainbowing/shimmering effect on any thin lines or patterns.

Depending on the TV, only one of the SCART sockets will take RGB (usually the first one), and another may accept s-video (inbetween composite and RGB quality-wise).

Any digital box or DVD player (game consoles too if you bought proper cables) should be able to output RGB (unless they're crap and or have no SCART sockets). Your analogue sat tuner and VCR if you have one will only output composite video (s-video if it's S-VHS VCR), so you can offload them to the other non-RGB inputs without any potential loss.
