I will be in Westport on Sunday evening and need to be in Dublin airport at 11:30 on Monday morning, absolute latest as that's when checkin closes. I haven't lived in Ireland in over 6 years so I'm hoping the train service has improved. There is a 7am train that gets into Dublin around 10:30 which would leave me 1 hour to get to the airport. Can I trust that the train will get me in on time (I've read there are some strikes at the moment) or should I start looking for alternate modes for getting there?

yes that should be enough time, can you check in online for your flight? that would give you extra time. also the 748 bus to the airport will be operating on a sunday service basis so the bus should be at 1045 which should just about get you there for 1130 though getting a taxi might be safer.

thanks, I'll defo get a taxi. Forgot about the online checkin, I've no bags so I'll look into that but i might not have access to a printer before then. Does Aer Lingus provide that service, I've only used their kiosks?

Only alternative is Aer Arann flight from Knock at 7.15, gets in before 8, but the train should be fine, strikes are over thankfully.

It's a Bank Holiday (just in case you didn't know) so I presume most public transport will be on Sunday schedule.

Trains normally run to a weekday schedule on a bank holiday monday with extra services added.

Dublin Bus services will be on a Sunday schedule however.

I think that's a bit tight, any chance there is an earlier train?

Whatever about the risk of interruption, its making things tight - too tight.

Thanks for the replies, had no web access after the previous reply but everything worked out great, so great that I even managed to get in a pint at 11:15! Train got in a few mins early, hardly any traffic on the way to the airport and no queues at all at the airport.
