Whats the story with the new O2 Clear plans and roaming in NI/GB? No add ons seem to be available with these new plans as opposed to the old ones. Are we back to roaming charges in NI/GB again or is there still free roaming in NI/GB?

Back to roaming it seems. Can still call NI landlines in the bundle but thats about it. Give with one hand, take with another
Unlimited minutes can be used for calls to O2 Ireland mobile numbers, Irish landlines (including landlines in Northern Ireland) & voicemail whilst in the Republic of Ireland only
All calls made whilst roaming are excluded and are charged as per the standard roaming rates

Hmmm, if thats the case then I think alot of people will be sticking with their old plan with the All Ireland/Uk Flat Rate add on especially if you live near the border and/or go to NI or GB alot. Surely O2 are going to lose customers if they remove this free roaming facility.

Vodafone and their Passport add on stand to gain from this!

is this the clear sim plan they are offering?

isn't the point of this plan that you can walk away when you give 30-days notice?

from their website.... Free yourself from long contracts. Give us just 30 days notice with O2 Clear Sim

i would consider this the main selling point of their plan.

come on lads - there is not one single plan by any of the mobile providers which one would consider perfect, they all have their advantages/disadvantages.

at the end of the days we have to look at our own situation, who we call most, what networks they are on, do i travel a lot, am i a talker or texter etc etc etc.

O2 and Vodafone/Meteor/3 are in the business to make money. they are never going to give you everything!!

You can have same price calls when in the North with the new Clear price plans
Under add-ons, select All Ireland - Its a free add-on

"Calls to Irish mobiles & landlines when roaming in NI are charged at one flat rate according to your price plan."

Is there a GB flat rate add on like the All Ireland one for NI? According to the info page for roaming in the UK:

    Link: http://www.o2online.ie/wps/wcm/connect/O2/Home/Explore+Services/Services/Travelling+Abroad/Tariff+Information/United+Kingdom/

at the very bottom it says you can "You can now receive calls free of charge in the United Kingdom and make calls back home for a flat rate - no roaming charges apply & no monthly subscription applies". A link is offered to "find out more about our UK flat rate Add On". But this link no longer works. Has the UK flat rate add on been withdrawn for O2 Clear price plans?

A really "clear" tariff would be one where you could turn on your phone anywhere in Ireland, make a call, send a text or use some data and be charged the same wherever you are. Anything else is a ripoff.
