Won't start

I gave the game off to a friend and it won't start on his pc.

He's got an AMD Athlon 1.24ghz
1gb ram
ATi 9800 pro
Win XP

I got him to install latest graphics drivers, direct x 10, patched the game up to 1.4 and even changed his virtual memory over from the 1.3gb available on c to the 39gb available on d.

He says the game ran at first and he got as far as knifing the melon in training then it just crashed.

When I got there and loaded up the game it started loading the 1st level but crashed out to windows when it fully loaded.

I patched the game and now it crashes out to windows when it gets to the menu.

Is the CPU not up to the job? I reckon he should be able to run it.

His card will not be able to use DX 10 .

Also minimum CPU spec = - CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz Single Core processor


Yes Athlons were more efficient then P4's , but not to that extent :P .

CoD4 doesnt use DX10 anyway... It won't be able to use any SM 3.0 features though.
