I was in there last night, very impressed. It is absolutely huge, couldnt believe the size compared to the Market. A decent crowd in there, no waiting for drink at all and an awful lot of bouncers which is a good sign. Definitely a lot better than trooms or d'icon.

meh am sick of places advertising themselves as 'the' place.. at the end of the day its a bar that plays loud music, not the epicenter of the universe. 'The mystery starts tonight' my ar5e!

At the end of the day its down to the people that run the place, and in my opinion the trooms and d'angel lane get my vote.

Just home from it (and for some reason feel the need to post - well the browser was open :D). Nice place, they got rid of "the market" smell so that's a definate plus point.

Enjoyed it, the place looks really good. Had no problems at any bar (and got served fairly quickly, especially considering it's a Saturday night). Saw a few turned away at the door (no ID, no in!) so that's cool. Decent music (not completely recent but enjoyed it! And a decent mix).

Overall I have to say it was a good night and something different than what has been offered...Notable differences - "Official" dancefloor is smaller (but there are a couple more), nice smoking areas (and some quiet areas), overhanging balcony is altered...Nice job!

    🤪

I was out with my mate (He works in Fine Wines) He was working till 11:30 and we had 2 drinks in Smiths bar,
We went over to Angle Lane in the pissing rain and joined the Q for about 15mins. We got to the door and the bouncer said we had two much to drink!! All we had was two bottles of bud!! We ended up in Ted:s (AGAIN) so that is the first and last time I will try that club. (Not happy at all) I told the bouncer I was a member of the club via the website and text services and he told me that was no good!

Was in there last Sunday. Got Id'd for the first time in at least 10 years! (I'm 27)! Nice place but I couldn't get over the amount of people they had let in in hoodys and trainers etc, kind of brought the tone of the place down a small bit. I thought after being ID's it might be a bit exclusive but the opposite was the case. Still had a good night though.

ID'ing people who are clearly in their 20's is just an easy way to lose customers. The bouncers should be told to use their cop on.

I id'ed a 27yr old woman last weekend on the door where i work. She didnt look anywhere close to 27 and luckily she had her driving licence on her because if she didnt have anything she wasnt getting in. Its hard to tell who is and who isnt underage, trust me.

Well I am 28 and so is mate who was with me last night when the bouncer told us we had 2 much to drink (all we had was 2 bottles of bud) my ex girlfriends sister was in front of me in the Q with a short skirt and a low cut top and she walked in the door, thing is she is only 16!! I thought Angle Lane was not going to be the same as the rest of the clubs in Limerick but I guess it is! and that's a shame.

so if im 20 there is no hope of me getting in here? i heard it was 21's and you wont be getting in at all if your not over that age but i know a few ppl that are 19 and got in..so does that mean i can get in if im 20 now or will i bother my arse at all wondering down there?

The bouncers would appear to be the only thing leaving the place down. No better than any scobe doing security in some chain store in town in manner. They are a bit more straight than the animals you see elsewhere, don't get violent that I've seen etc. but their power trip smacks of oppressed minority.

im going to give this place another few weeks before i try it out, want to let is settle before i make a judegement on it! dont like the stories of 16yo s getting in. gonna see what the crowd is like in a few weeks.

I thought the bouncers were friendly, it didn't annoy me being asked as they were polite, but I was surprised. There is no way I'd pass for under 23! I didn't get asked for ID since I was 27 (although I have been working out so maybe I look younger!). I have never had any problems with any bouncers in Limerick TBH, I am always dressed well and polite.

The bouncer was leaving me in anyway and my fiancee didn't have ID and she looks younger than me. I don't know why they asked I just laughed it off and said "I'm 27!".

Like I said in the previous post people were wearing hoodys, trainers and denim shorts etc, not something you would expect in an up and coming night club even on a Sunday!

when u say hoodies and trainers, are we talking nike hoodies and nike air max trainers, or are we talking skate style clothes? cos i only wear skate shoes going out, and occasionally skate hoodies. i think u mean the former though, thanks to the denim shorts part..

    :D

Nightlife threads on here always end up with people who don't like the music, and those who love the music, don't like the bouncers, do like the bouncers, like the crowd, dont like the crowd, like the place, think its a **** hole....You have to sympathise with anyone trying to run a nightlcub. Their heads must be wrecked reading these kinds of threads.:D

True, but it should be the responsibility of club management to cater for a cross section of the community. A paying client is a paying client after all.
Alot of clubs (some still do) previously insisted on shirt and shoes. That clearly doesnt work anymore, as peoples attitudes change to socialising etc.

this club was the kick up the rear end limerick needed....some decent competition to tirinners and d'icon...although it does need more bar staff...spent alot of the night trying to get the bar staff to take my money.....

In response to the comments about dresscode, isn't it about time things changed? I mean I still 'dress up' going out but everywhere but Ireland these days goes out casual, it's more relaxed and it just shows how modern angel lane is. If they only let 'shirt&shoes' in wouldn't it be like everywhere else?
They've posted a message on their website saying more staff will be at the bars in future so lets hope they stick to that ~ I've been there on a crazy Sat waiting ages to be served and on a mellow Thurs where there were plenty of staff at the bar, both times the crowd was really lovely. I suppose it could be called a 'premium crowd', went to trooms last night and we must've been the oldest there. We're all 21. The bouncers id'd all of us and barely let us in there!
I haven't had any problems with the bouncers at the lane, they all seem really friendly, they just need to see 21+ id which is fine with me. It should be the norm everywhere really ~ I was in America recently and if you look under 30 there, you get id'd and it's not a big deal.
I did think the dancefloor would be bigger though! At least there's another :-P
Love their smoking area and the amount of bars they have! And love their staff! I can't go anywhere else now!!

there again last night...the bars seemeed to be well staff..but i think it was the sheer voulme of people in there that was cauing the delay in getting served....an it s the fiest time ive danced to smells like teen spirt in a club since i was 19 id say....

I was in there last night, loved the lay out, its class but its lacking something. Its the people in there I think I dont like, lots of people in there up themselves.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

does the music vary between the 4 areas?

yes the music differs in the areas...i agree the crowd in there is a bit..."im better than you" but thats limerick for ya...

  • Registered Users Posts: 525 ✭✭✭Tinytony

Was there last night, great spot. I think the comments about the crowd being up themselves are a bit silly to be honest.

The music was great there too, all the classics without being cheesy. The sound and light show are top notch too.

I`m looking foward to the 80`s night .... when is it happening and who is the dj ... ???

Myself and the girlfriend were in there Thursday night. Wasn't too overly impressed with the place to be honest. Just looks like another standard nightclub layout with a few extra bars which I suppose is a good thing if the place is mobbed.

Crowd wasn't great either on Thursday night, seemed to be quite a few weird type guys there on their own, lerking around staring at anything in a skirt, made the girlfriend a little uncomfortable at times but there were plenty of bouncers around and no hassel.

Probably better at the momment than Trinski Rooms and D'Icon though but when the "new club" feeling wears off it will just be another Limerick after hours place imo.

Yeah, getting feedback must be terrible. God help them.

just more on the bouncers, know of a well dressed sober couple, who were turned away for being too drunk. not the first time iv heard it either.

still havent gone myself though, mates have and havent liked it, thought it looked well but was let down by music. will go myself in a few weeks once hype has gone down.

trinity rooms birthday party friday night was epic! c2c in the courtyard were incredible.

Considering Angel's Lane is trying to build up business, I mailed them 2 days ago to book an area for 50 people and I got no reply, so now I have gone somewhere else and the other club has provided consessions for €5.00 per person.....
