Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm trying to hook my console up to my monitor. I have the VGA cable but it also has 2 audio leads (red & white) I have a beautiful picture but no sound. I tried hooking the audio cables up to my surround sound but I still get nothing. I tried changing the audio setting on the console but it only seems to offer Digital Stereo, Digital 5.1 Or Digital WMA...any suggestions?

I'm playing soundless ATM and it sucks.

Why not use the optical connection from the Xbox instead? That's how I use it with my monitor and the audio goes through a decoder. Though I've used the analog stereo connectors into the Aux In of my speakers just fine too with no settings adjusted.

I dont have an opti cable. Thought the VGA would suffice for sound and visual. Will purchase an opti one ASAP. Thanks.

How do you not have sound from the supplied RED/WHITE audio connectors?

All you need to do is plug them into the input (via Phono or supplied 3.5mm adaptor) on your surround sound kit. I currently have my PC monitor connected to my 360 via VGA and then the red/white outputs plugged into the input on my speakers.

Are you sure you have the red/white phono plugs connected to the correct input? You must be doing something seriously wrong. I suggest you stop failing.

Also, digital stereo should suffice as sound output setting.

You don't need to purchase an opti cable - it's just an alternative (and needed if you have a 5.1 setup). Like I said (and so did Summer Glau), the analog stereo connectors can be used for stereo sound if connected to an Aux In of either your speakers or the stereo system. If all you want is stereo sound, you can save yourself the expense of buying an optical cable by figuring out where the problem is in your setup and using the existing stereo connectors off the VGA cable...
