    Hi,

Murphy & Gunn are currently offering free leather on new petrol Avensis registered before end of June. Does anyone know if this is just an effort to shift stock that'll be harder to sell after June or if there will be higher specced/special edition Avensis petrol & diesel models on offer in the run up to the new model later in the year?

Yes it is, the 1.6 will be higher priced after July in terms of road tax and VRT making it not as appealing as the diesel models.

Yep after July cars the size of the Avensis with a 1.6 litre petrol engine will become a rare sight. They were only offered in countries like Ireland due to our engine size motor tax system.

They are most probably trying to flog stock they are finding hard to shift.

It'd take alot more than free leather to make me part with my own cash for a 1.6 Avensis

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Don't be fooled into buying an Irish special that nobody will want in a few years' time.

The 1.8 just about manages, so the 1.6 is bound to be sluggish.

Plus the 1.6 pollutes 1g/km more 172 vs. 171, putting both in the 28% bracket by 2g and 1g respectively. Toyota must be really sickened.:pac:

They've been trying to shift the 1.6 Avensis for over 3 months now, just shows how desperate they are. Practically all the 08 used Avensis on sale are 1.6s too.

I pity the poor fools who fell for that "offer".

The paraffin stove is a much better engine, and will be available for only a fraction more than the 1.6 never mind the 1.8 from July.

Though why would anyone want a new Avensis now when there's a brand new one coming in a few months time?
