Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Edit : Add - Borini , Di Santo added to the forwards, but I suspect Di Santo will be moved along.

DiSanto looked promising at the start... But now he can't even get his game at Blackburn... Something like 1 goal in 20-odd appearances??? Not good for a forward!

True, was bought for something like 5 million pound and has failed to make the grade, maybe a loan spell at a different league will help him, look at Stoch, he looked brillant at reserves but when he got a bit of game time in the 1st team he just didnt look able and now since hes gone away onloan he look like a good prospect.

This much is true... I always thought Stoch looked like a good prospect. Then he lined out in the 1st team and looked out of his depth. Now, he's on fire at Twente, so hopefully he'll be buzzing with confidence when he comes back...

Maybe the same thing would do diSanto the world of good; a loan spell in Ligue 1, Eredivisie or possibly even Serie A or La Liga would be good for his confidence...

Stoch wasn't really given a fair go in the first team, I recall him coming on against Stoke last season and played very well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

Stoch was really only ever given a few run outs, very very little 1st team experience, so the loan move to Twente will probably be the crowning of him.

Hopefully the same thing will happen to some of our other younger players, but that they can come back better and more adept than before..

Mick McCarty was recently saying Mancienne needed another year at least before he would be ready to challenge for a Chelsea place.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 4,726 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzovision

He's not a first team level yet, but maybe next season he could do a job at right back like Ferriera has in the last while.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

Mancienne needs more time getting 1st team experience, and Wolves is as good as it's gonna get. He's an imperfect article at the min, but given time....... He will get so much better.

Oh big time, I'd be the same. But now is neither the time nor the place to be doing such, but in certain fixtures, there should defo be an influx of new blood into the team.

Pre-season, FA Cup, Carling Cup, etc.

Let the young guns show us what they can do!!!

That would be fantastic. A brilliant player and hopefully he would adapt to EPL.
We really need to shake the team up for next season.

Whether that is bringing on the youngsters or buying in one or two and shipping out the deadwood (you know who you are and so do we !) I don't mind.
If City spend again and Arsenal are smart and buy a little experience those two could burn the rest next season.

This summer really is going to be silly season in terms of transfer talk for us, it's gona be tough to know what to make of the inevitable rumours. On one hand we've seen it all before in the past few seasons, being linked with every world class player or hot prospect going. On the other hand we heard earlier in the season that RA would be freeing up a lot of cash for transfers, ntm the fact that the squad really is beginning to show its age.

I reckon we will make 2 big signings, its all we need really. I would like a central or right sided midfielder, like a younger Deco or a better Joe Cole, somebody capable of delivering a killer final ball. I think we'll sign a younger striker too, all these links to Pato and Aguero and the like will surely come to some kind of fruition.

I'd much prefer Aguero than Pato tbh.

    Chelsea vs. Stoke pre-game briefing:
Following two wins against Stoke already this season, club historian Rick Glanvill and club statistician Paul Dutton weigh up the chances of a hat trick.

    Talking Points:

By the time this one kicks off, Carlo Ancelotti and his starting 11 will have slept on the result from Old Trafford. A supplement to the old adage about never banking on Spurs is that they did as much damage last week as can be undone against Manchester United anyway.

It is also worth wearily noting that the Lilywhites have not been victorious away from home against a 'big four' side in 66 attempts.

Chelsea's puzzlingly flat performance at White Hart Lane can be left behind only with a convincing win against cosily mid-table Stoke City. The Potters have the ninth-best away record in the league, but only Portsmouth, with eight, have scored fewer goals on their travels than Stoke's nine. It is victory or bust for the Blues.

Unfortunately, the injury news from Cobham is again mixed, with John Mikel Obi joining those on the treatment table. Happily, defenders Ashley Cole and Branislav Ivanovic are fit again. John Terry is of course suspended following last week's red card.

    KEY STAT
This will be the first league match John Terry has missed since January 2009 when he withdrew during the warm-up with a back injury - coincidentally also against Stoke.

Looking ahead over the next two fixtures, Liverpool's 0-1 Europa League defeat in Madrid last night should be welcomed by Blues fans. Carlo Ancelotti takes his team to Anfield on 2 May, just three days after the decisive leg against Atletico. Rafael Benitez cannot now afford to rest any of his big guns before our encounter.

Some may read into Stoke's 1-2 reverse at home last weekend that the players already have their metaphorical towels on their proverbial sun-beds.

It is certainly the case that they conspired to squander a winning scoreline, and that their advantage owed as much to Bolton's poverty than any riches on the part of Tony Pulis's men.

However, Bolton became a more spirited proposition after the break and Stoke paid the full price for their first-half profligacy. And there is no way the Potters will approach a match against title-chasers with the same complacency.

They also play Manchester Utd on the last day of the season. Players like to have a say in the destination of silverware, however indirectly.
As the final three games approach, Chelsea lead the table by one point, and with a three point goal difference advantage over United.

Ivan in for JT and Carlo sugguested that Yuri could be play LM

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

Ivanovic will be a brilliant addition at CB.

Tho I'd prefer him to play at RB, CB being filled by Riccy (tho is he injured?????????) and Alex, LB Ashley.

Don't like Ferreira as much anymore, tho Stoke will hardly give him the runaround that Bale and Modric did...

    Does the lazy stereotypical journalism bother any other cfc fans out there? I'm talking of;
Arsenal - beautiful, one touch football
man U - Free flowing counter attacking football
Chelsea - powerful, strong, defensive football

This really pisses me of as we have scored more goals than anyone, and only conceded 5 more than man u. I wish the sky & rte lads would actually take another look at a chelsea game and re-evaulate their opinions.

    *rant over*

This really does piss me off. I know people who are Man United fans who often say to me they like the way Chelsea play football. Chelsea do (now) play some wonderful football, as do both Arsenal and Man United.

But all are not without their flaws: against better sides, Arsenal can look very ordinary (see: Man United, Chelsea, Barcelona etc.)

Chelsea are a solid defensive side, but not many defensive sides can hammer teams 7-2, 7-1, 5-0 etc. as Chelsea have done this season.

Manchester United have lost some of that free-flowing counter attacking ability since the departure of a certain Portuguese wunder-boy, but are still one of the best sides going, no doubt about it.

But lazy journalism really does irk (RTE are particularly sinful of this; many of the pundits clearly know nothing) and these sweeping generalisations are not good for the game.

A lot of my friends (who do not follow football at all) often spoof pundits when I'm talking about football by spouting such inanities as "Arsenal always try to walk the ball into the net!" coupled with a big laugh.

Break the stereotypes and actually learn something about the teams you are talking about, ffs!!!

Nicola Anelka , cant be that hard to get the bloody name rite , its part of the job after all !!!

Don't care what he's called, so long as "Le Sulk" fires on all cylnders this weekend. Can't take much more of this up-down season. Leaving it till the last match to win the league plays into Fergies hands.

Delighted for Inter, usually the team that beats us goes on to win the Champions league.

Its getting to the stage where I cant wait for the season to be over, cos I just cant handle it.
I'll spend all summer looking forward to the new season, and then wishing it would finish as soon as we're top of the league!

Man City will now also hop off them, they'll finish 5th and hopefully that's their challenge for 4th gone forever... On another note... We now need 9 points from 9 more than ever... And who knows... No Terry tomorrow could be a blessing.

    Cech

    Ferriera
    Ivanovic
    Alex
    Cole

    Ballack

    Lampard
    Malouda

    Cole
    Zhirkov

    Anelka

I think this will be the team tomorrow. Swap Mikel for Ballack if he's fit. Huge performance needed.

Stoke, while not easily broken down, will be beaten tomorrow. Chelsea, while they may be nervy, will be just simply too good for them. And that team provided above is a testament to that, it simply oozes class.

Also, I've never been to a Chelsea game where we lost!!! Only one draw too (West Ham earlier this season), so my record and my talismanic value holding, we will win!!!;)
