Is there any hard and fast way to know which way to physically mount case fans?

Take the Akasa 80mm & 120mm fans, they have a name badge sticker on one side of the unit on the center of the hub, is that any indication as to the direction they are fitted?

Or the curve on the actual blades, is that any indication as to the direction of air flow?

Other then connecting up the fan to the 12v power supply & holding your hand in front or behind it, is there any easier way to determine which way they should be fitted?

There is not a correct way to mount them, other then to ensure that all your fans are working together in terms of airflow - for example fans at the front intake, at back, outtake. Otherwise, temperatures would get even worse.

So other then actually physically powering them up is there no way of known the air flow direction?

And what about the side panels of the case?

Should fans there intake or outtake?

Do side panel fans not interfere with the "Front intake & Back outtake flow?

Yeah there is the part where the side where the sticker is draws the air in and blows it out the other side, so if you want a fan to exhaust air, the sticker side should face into the case.

You can have negative and positive airflow depending on your setup, negative means more air is going out than coming in so therefore less dust and slightly worse temps. Positive is the opposite and leads to a dusty mofo of a case.

In terms of side panels and fans, the lower ones are for cooling the gpus and given most double slot gpu fans take in air and exhaust them out that grill part of the card, you should blow air onto them from outside the case.
Anything higher up is for the cpu or just the mobo in general and you can choose yourself whether to push air into the case or pull it out. the difference is minimal.

Note if you place a fan blowing onto the area in front of the cpu cooler, if the cpu cooler is exhausting air out the back, then it messes the airflow getting to the cpu fan and you'll get a jump in temps, ram coolers are fine cause they have low airflow and are lower but anything else will mess with the cpu
