Food is abundant here in the Arctic. .but it is all soon to be taken away from us through mass deception and lies. Polar Bears are now on the endangered species list even though they are not in any danger. the population is at an all time high. We do not hunt the polar bear, they are much too dangerous and extremly unpredictable. But now that this animal is on th elist.. walrus and seals are next. The species that is in grave danger of becoming extinct is the Inupiaq Eskimo !!!

I'd love to give my political counter argument back to you but it's a photography forum and you say the world lies abbout Global warming? I say you are the one with ur head in the sand...er ice.

    :)

Thanks for the wonderful comments - !! I have lots of photographs of the Inupiaq way of life - living out on the ocean ice pack for two months each year !!
I have been living in Alaska's Arctic for 30 years time - In fact if you go to any good library - you will find a BOOK - a big white coffee table book that is named - ALASKA'S ARCTIC. My photographs begin on page 128.

This book was published in 1991. I have many bizarre - strange - unbelievable stories to share with you - THAT YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE.

One such person or individual a BOYER. On each whaling crew - there are 8 hunters. The hunters sleep outside with no tents !! No matter what the weather is like. MINUS 30 BELOW ZERO - MINUS 60 BELOW ZERO - We sleep outside - no tents. The tents are for the women only (Point Hope). In Barrow it is much different - but in every village - A BOYER - Is in charge of the tent !

When the women go to sleep at night the boyers job is to maintain that tent and keep it warm. He has many responsibilities. Chopping wood with an axe to keep that home made wood stove fired up and the tent nice and warm. He also has many other duties - such as Make hot coffee - hot tea & hot chocolate and keep the thermoses full and delivered to the hunters at the lead. He must also pay attention to the wind - always checking his area for new cracks in the ice. He is well armed incase of a polar bear attack. He is well trained - lie down - go to sleep, your in good hands. He must 'make' water for the different chores he as to do. Melt snow to obtain water for cleaning and washing dishes- Make delicious fresh water for drinking & cooking. In some whaling camps, this boyer is only 3 years old !! Hand him your lighter or matches and go to sleep !!

    04s.JPG

GLOBAL WARMING IS A PROVEN HOAX !!!

During the 80's (decade) Ice was receeding every year. In 1982 we were 7 miles out on the ocean ice pack. Each year - we were closer and closer to shore - the ice was poor.
during the 90's (decade) We had no ocean ice - we were whaling from shore.

2003- 2010 - We have experienced the best ocean ice in many decades !!

2003- we were 19 miles out. 2010 - The Arctic Ice pack is at an all time high - Arctic Ice pack is at a ten year high !! (documented as largest growth in the arctic ice pack since 1979 !!

Perhaps the question most often asked: Where do you go to the bathroom when you are living outside on the ocean ice pack. The answer is obvious !!

    SIT.JPG

You hide - behind any large piece of ice !!

QUESTION: Where or how do you suppose we obtain delicious fresh drinking water - miles from land on an ice pack that is FROZEN SALT WATER ??? Yes we melt snow - for cleaning and washing; but for drinking and cooking - we need delicious fresh water. HOW DO YOU SUPPOSE WE OBTAIN all that we need out here for each crew ?? Where does that delicious fresh water come from ???

Well, I think this thread has officially jumped the shark (or killer whale perhaps)

Spam or not Its fascinating stuff, I've been in -30c and my ears felt like they were going to snap off with the cold.
How the heck can anyone sleep outside and not slip into a coma and die at those temperatures you mentioned.

This is a photo essay and as such I will use photographs to illustrate my point(S)!!

Alaska's Arctic is extremely dry, the cold gets on you - it doesn't penetrate your clothing.

It depends mainly on how you dress and what you eat - to help generate more body heat. There are many 'tricks' to surviving in these frigid temperatures. These people have been living here - doing this - for well over 3,000 years in this one spot of land (Point Hope).

IMAGINE: having to chop a trail through the arctic ice - by hand - using pick or axe, for 5 miles or more. Long 12 - 14 hour days; incredibly hard work - for one month!! No one receives any pay for this hard work - just the right to eat !!

    VERYCOLD.JPG

We each have our own opinions - we can agree to disagree without any name calling.

In the above image the temp was - 40 F w/30 mph winds bringing the chill factor to minus 80 below zero !!! I will post images of people sleeping outside ZZZZZZZZZZZZ !!!

I am reporting on what I SEE here in the Arctic and what we EXPERIENCE. Some people have never been to the arctic so they rely on the mainstream media ! (as their only source).

I HAVE THE PHOTOGRAPHS (dated) to prove and illustrate my point(s).

I'm not resorting to name calling, I'm saying that your grandiose assertions about climate change being a hoax are complete nonsense. You're the one making the original ridiculous claims.

ALL I AM SAYING... .. is that 2003- 2010 we have EXPERIENCED the best ice in decades !!!

Call it what you want - I could care less. Our summers are cooler and the winters are better!! ICE IS THICKER - and further out. I do not need a 'name' for this other than - this is great !!!

Incidentally, just having read that link, I'm bemused. Why would you link to a report that almost directly contradicts what you're claiming ? I know wacky climate change deniers love bailing on Al Gore, but you probably should have actually read the rest of the article as well.
Dr Maslowski said that his projections suggested that the North Pole would be near ice-free, but that some ice would remain beyond 2020.
Most researchers agree on a 20 to 30-year time-scale for near ice-free conditions in the Arctic.

Indeed most of the criticism aimed at Al Gore from scientists is apparently because he based " his talk on unpublished data, rather than relying on the latest peer-reviewed studies.", that unpublished data having come from the US Navy research unit which "was in a stronger position to give predictions as it had unique access to measurements of ice volume by submarines".

Really enjoying the stories and pictures but I have to agree with Daire on the Climate Change Hoax stuff. You may be experiencing the best ocean ice for decades but that doesn't mean that that entire continent is the same, nor that the ESA is wrong - they are seeing it with their own eyes too after all. But alas, that's diverging off topic....

In anycase, keep the pics coming!

The 'internet' is a poor choice - for attempting to PROVE "anything". A simple search will lead to 'choices' ONLY !!

DOES GOD EXIST ?? Do a search and the results are astounding !!

GOD DOES EXIST; = 3,790,000 pages

    GOD DOESN'T EXIST: = 7,460,000 pages

    End of discussion !!

When you have to sleep - out on the ocean ice - you sleep with your boots and gloves in place.

    snore.jpg

    sleepinga.jpg

Being exposed to brilliant sunlight 24 hours a day - out on the ocean ice pack produces some startling results. You easily become 'solar powered' (as long as you are outside). It is very easy to stay awake and alert for 3 days or longer. when you do get tired - just lean back on the sled and rest for a few hours and your all charged up - ready to go again for another 3 days (or longer).

    sleep-sit.jpg

Why should 'water' taste delicous ?? FOR THE SAME REASON FOOD SHOULD TASTE GOOD !!! NO ONE - wants to drink yuk for water. We need delicous fresh drinking water - HOW DO YOU OBTAIN THAT ??

Where or how do hundreds of people - camped out on the ocean ice - many miles from land. How do they obtain fresh water ? We need many gallons of it daily in each camp site for 12 or more people. IN Barrow there are 35 whaling crews x 12 members for each crew. That is a lot of water (daily). where do you think this is obtained and how ??

TRUE; we can bring fresh water ice out to the camp sites but that is extremely time consuming and expensive. Our gas prices are more than six dollars per gallon !! A much better easier time tested method is used.

We are surrounded by salt water frozen ice- it is all around us. How do you suppose these people magically turn this ice into fresh water that is incredibly delicious !!

Wow. Way to go with the conversational non-sequitirs. I gotta say, if most climate change deniers are as eloquent in argument as you then we don't really have a problem. I can only assume that you're conceeding that your original assertion was completely baseless and nonsensical.

    The Arcitic Ice Pack -
Arctic sea ice reached its maximum extent for the year on March 31 at 15.25 million square kilometers (5.89 million square miles),” the National Snow and Ice Data Center stated in a recently published report. “This was the latest date for the maximum Arctic sea ice extent since the start of the satellite record in 1979.”

Global Warming or Climate change - which is the politically correct term to use ??

At the real axis, the erf(z) approach unity at z → +∞ and −1 at z → −∞. At the imaginary axis, it tends to ±i∞

Like most misguided conspiracy theorists , you've selectively quote mined your source as well to try and support your position.

    The original article is here:
    http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/

Which once again does nothing but CONTRADICT your assertion that ice levels are increasing year on year.

    I particularly like ...

WND.com is a media outlet closely aligned with the American crackpot right, after 9/11 they published an article suggesting "God (has) raised up Shiite Islam as a sword against America" because of the moral depravity they thought New York and much of America represented. I would consider them several orders of magnitude less trustworthy than Fox News.

ANSWER: FROZEN SALT WATER is the exact same thing as FROZEN FRESH WATER. When SALT WATER freezes is expells the SALT through a process called BRINE REJECTION. YOU OBTAIN FRESH WATER by MELTING SNOW. Also, if you haven't yet realised you're using fresh water, I hope you don't think it's a good idea to clean and wash with saltwater.

Also, "gas" in Ireland currently costs about $6.75 per gallon.

Frozen ice is comprised of salt water.. it is not fresh - we have to get the salt out of the ice. There are two ways to get the salt out of the ice.

TAKE A PIECE OF OCEAN ICE - melt it. TAKE A DRINK OF IT AND PUKE !!

IT IS LOADED WITH SALT !!!

This photo essay is doomed by the beligerent attitudes of ANYTHING I post is incredible !!

I guess Eskimos are just plain stupid and dumb !!

I will let the whaling captains know - It is ok to just melt ice and drink it - !!

A 3,000 year old tradition is nothing but deception !!

Wow !!! did you get that from the internet ?? It sure proves my point exactly !!!

I have tasted snow that has been melted ( clean snow ) - it tastes yuk.

I have tasted ocean ice (when it is prepared correctly) and it is the most delicious water I have ever tasted - it contains no salt !!

AGAIN: We use snow for washing and cleaning - we use ocean ice for cooking and drinking!

The salt that is inside the ice can actually be seen and observed in the ice. I realize that many of you spend two months every year living out on the ocean ice and you have performed these time tested traditions and found them all to be totally FALSE !!

Two methods to get the salt out of the ice are ????

Lets put your brain power to the test and see if anyone can correctly come up with anything remotely accurate !!

I will just post images w/ no text - it is obvious no matter what I post - someone is going to gripe about spam or advertising or some other foolish agenda.

YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION & I also happen to have a 'different' opinion -

I wonder how the women get dough to rise - in a tent when it is -50 below zero outside. These women work so hard - all day - cooking for a crew of 12. No pay for two months. In fact the unemployment rate in most of the smaller villages (9) is 80%.

Try and raise a family of ten on no income. NO they do not get government hand outs. It is incredibly expensive to live in the arctic.

Arts & Crafts - is a huge world wide business that is booming in demand.

What is an IGLOO ?? I betcha don't know (In Alaska) what an igloo is !!

First of all - The Inupiaq language contains no O's or E's

The correct spelling of that word is IGLU it is pronounced exactly as the wrong spelling IG LOO

    Iglu = one dwelling

    Iglut = two dwellings

    Igluk = 3 or more.

An iglu is built or constructed using whale bones and sod. They are quite large and some even have (wings - rooms) off to either side.

For more than 3,000 years the Inupiaq peoples have lived in this manner.

So there's this newlywed couple, on their honeymoon.

They're at a beautiful tropical location, a resort with thatch huts, scuba diving, all-included meals and drinks, the works.

The morning of the third day they're there, they're out swimming, when suddenly they're realize they're surrounded by sharks. The husband and wife cling together, as a giant, looming shadow swims under the water towards them.

Shortly, this huge shark raises halfway up out of the water and says, "I won't eat you if you promise me one thing" through gleaming white teeth.

"What? What? We'll do anything!" the wife cried out.

Just then the shark screamed "PARAGUAY! PARAGUAY! PARAGUAY!!!!!!"
